The barriers to Christianity,
built up by ,war and the 'bitter ex-
perience of atomic warfare are
being slowly broken, Miss Wilna
Thomas, former missionary to
Japan, Mold the 33rd annual meet-
ing of 'the London Conference
branch of the Woman's Missionary
Society of the United Church of
Canada in conference in Emman-
uel Church, Windsor. She said
that in 1956 the Y.W.C.A. of Japan
invited women of eleven Asiatic
countries to meet in an Asian
Christian women's conference near
TO-kyo. In that meeting the women
attending, many enemies during
the war, demonstrated how Chris-
tian- love can rise above such bar-
riers, and -they returned home as
friends. She said 'that only one
half of one 'pep cent of the Japan?
ese population is Christian. There
are "no spectacular results of the
Christian missionary effort but
the church does go forward stead-
ily and surely because of the dedi-
cated efforts of a sincere Christian
group." Rev. Anne P, Graham of
London dramatically demonstrated
Addressing the Tuesday night
session, Rev, George Goth of Lon-
don spoke on Ale subject "Around
the World in Sixty Days," He said
that in Japan he had found that
we of the West cannot be trusted
with the weapons we possess, A
group of Buddhists had raised
money to send missionaries to edu-
cate western peoples In the art of
peace. He said that Canadians
should not place- 'an embargo' on'
JaPanese imports, because they.
"ehrld ,stia,re their resources:" The.
Japanese need the ,markets here
and. Canada should encourage such
markets. The small-minded Cana-
dian who wants articles shade in

to world peace. He said a man of
