wore married in Toronto on April
22nd, 1908 by Rev, Geggle, and re,
turned to farmin Wawanosh Town-
ship. Though they 'have. not !al,
ways lived on. the same place; the •
farm they now occupy is the one
on whicill Mr, Martin was born, It
was land purchased from th e Crown
by -'his grandfather in 1854, The
latter moved onto the farm and
started to clear it in 1856 and it.
has remained continuously. in the
Martin family since that time. It
is Iodated at Lot 28, Con, 12 and
their home is on. the Division Line.
Mr. and Mrs, Martin, who are
both very active about the home
and farm., are members of . the
Whitechurch United Church, TyeY
have a family of three daught rs:

Whitechurch; Mrs, Elroy (Louise)

Highway 86 east of Bluevale on
Sunday evening. There were no'

Stops Grass Fire
WHITE CHURCH — Clarence
Chamney had an anxious time on
Thursday last. He was raking up
straw, left in the field last fall
after Combining, and he thought it
should be burned. HO was on his
other farm, west of his home place,
in the second field baelt from the
road. When he started the fire,.
things were so dry it soon got be-
yond control and was getting into
the fields of Gordon Naylor, and
heading toward the Naylor :bush.
A' call was put in for Wingham
Firemen, who saved the ,day.
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Weir
of Welland spent the week-end
with their aunt, Mrs, A. MeCreight
and attended the funeral. of their

had ,suffered from a heart con-
dition over the past year. Forty
years ago, (he married Agnes Weir,
Who survives. They had no family.
Of a family of three sons, and
three daughters, he. was the last
survivor of the' children of the late

pioneers of .Turitherry, and life-
king Iresidents on their farm on
Highway 86, One brother passed
away in November and his sister,

read the minutes of the last meet-
ing, correspondence and the trea-
