In Disastrous Farm Fire

to 'the Wingham and District .bri-
gade, which left Wingham at
x:2,00, o'clock, but by the time the
local firemen. : arrived nothing
could be done to quell the•flames
raging through both buildings,.

small part of the loss will be
covered by insurance. "

Mr. and Mrs. I•iarpld Wallace,
who reside about two mace direct-
ly north of Fordwich, lost virtually'
everything they owned in a alsae-
trove 'fire which destroyed their
barn, home, livestock and imple-
ments at noel; on Tuesday,

called Mrs. Wallace to' tell her that
We barn was on fire, Mr. Wallace'
was in the bush at the time,. Be-
fore he could reach •the house, it
too, .bad taken fire as the wind

Lloyd Ellacott reported for the
entertainment committee, which
has yet to finalize ' its arrange-
ments, However, it is expected that
there will be three periods of en-
tertainment each evening. Johnny
Brent of •CKNX is co-operating
with the committee to secure a
high calibre of entertainment.
Ross Hamilton said that the sale
of booth space is 'well on the way,
with More than half of the avail-
able space in the arena already

evening, to. hear details of the
needs of civil defence .in, this com-
munity. i,
As a result 'of the 'meeting a
committee was formed,to approach
the town council and there to but-
'"line the plan for a properly organ-
ized •civil defence set-up• in the
town,
