Man totals car
on slushy roads
Slushy roads were the cause of a
one-vehicle accident which demol
ished a 1987 Nissan car owned by
Darryl Ball of RR 1, Auburn.
Goderich OPP say that at 4:25
pm., while driving on County Rd.
approximately 3.5 km. south of
County Rd. 25, Mr. Ball lost con
trol of his car on the wet and slushy
pavement. Police say he tried to
correct the slide but flipped the car
which rolled over in a ditch.
Mr. Ball sustained minor injuries.
No charges were laid.

scripture from Matt. 1: 18-25 and

unique in the place of prophecy.

The Christmas pot luck luncheon
of the Women's Institute was held
at the Community Hall on
Thursday, Dec. 17 at 12 noon.
There were 15 members and nine
guests present. President Evelyn
Flett welcomed all members and
guests.

No one can miss the Messiah even
in reading Isaiah 53, said Pastor
Carne. Jesus is unique in His
worthiness to be worshipped. The
wise men had come to worship
Him and had probably travelled for
nearly two years to do so.
Pastor Came said, “We worship
that to which we give our time.
Most people today are idolaters
spending time on pleasure; making wise men brought gifts of value to
more money while devotion to Jesus. How deep is the worship of
church becomes very limited. The ' our giving?” he asked.
WMS listens to Christmas readings
The Christmas meeting of the
Auburn Presbyterian W.M.S. was
held at the home of Mrs. Frances
Clark.
The order of service was
followed from the Glad Tidings
which was entitled “Mother and
Son”. The readings were taken by
different members.
Frances gave two readings
“Christmas Beautitudes” and a
“Symbol of Faith”.

Ethel United
donates gifts
Many articles were gathered by
the Ethel United Church and sent to
the Social Services for their White
Christmas.
Fred Uhler and Helen Cullen of
Grey Township council hosted the
last euchre of 1992 in the Ethel
Hall.
The first euchre of the new year
will be held on Jan. 11 at 8:30 p.m.
There were eight tables of euchre
in play.
The high man was Ross Stephen
son and high lady was Nelda
Schade. The low man was Margaret
Long and the low lady was Grace
Smith.
The most lone hands was Bob
Bremner and Shirley Verstoep.
The 50/50 draw of $17 was won
by Shirley Verstoep.

and Grace was sung with Marjorie
McDougall as pianist. O Come All
Ye Faithful was sung. Laura May
Chamney led in the singing of
carols. Evelyn Flett read a poem
“Christmas Card Magic”. Lively
tunes were played on the violin bv
Ken Flett accompanied by Marjorie
McDougall.
