Most Blyth merchants were involved in the campaign in which a business would donate five per cent of the purchase price on an item a customer bought if the customer brought in an item for the Huron County Christmas Bureau. A stolen van, owned by Gary Courtney of Blyth, was discovered at about 5 a.m. on Thursday Dec. 17 by Waterloo Regional police Special music at CRC service Reverend VerHoog from Exeter was the guest pastor for the Blyth Christian Reformed Church on Dec. 20. Darlene VanderVeen and Debbie Siertsema sang a beautiful duet, Nearer, Still Nearer. The message was taken from Luke 1: 26-38, 46-56. After the scripture reading, Darlene and Debbie sang, O Holy Night. During the afternoon service, the Sunday School students presented the beautiful message of Jesus' birth. After the service was a time of fellowship and coffee for the adults and the children were given gifts and refreshments. Christmas day service will be at 10:00 a.m. Anyone may attend. after being involved in a single vehicle accident. The van had been stolen the pre­ vious evening from the Blyth arena parking lot, said a spokesperson from the Wingham OPP. Mr. Courtney had left the keys in the 1986 GMC while he was playing hockey, the spokesperson said. Police have charged 23-year-old Michael Douglas Buckley of Wal­ ton. According to the spokesperson Mr. Buckley drove the van to Waterloo Region where he failed to negotiate a curve and hit a tree. Waterloo police discovered the van had been stolen after running a check on it, OPP said. The van was demolished. The spokesperson said that Mr. Buckley sustained slight injuries and was taken first to the hospital, then later to the police station. Mr. Buckley will appeared in Wingham's provincial court on Jan.
