Brussels Livestock Report Fed cattle $l-$2 higher than last week Sales at Brussels Livestock for the week ending Nov. 27 were: fed cattle, 996; cows, 347; veal calves, 192; lambs and goats, 105; stockers, 1500; and pigs, light run. The market saw fed cattle selling $1 - $2 higher from previous week. There were 627 steers on offer selling from $90 to $95 to the high of $107.75. Thirty steers consigned by Gerald Geisel, Elmira, averaging 1391 lbs. sold for an average of $97.94 with sales to $107.75. Thirteen steers consigned by William Bennett & Sons Ltd., Gorrie, averaging 1330 lbs. sold for an average of $101.05 with sales to $107.00. Twelve steers consigned by Paul Gowing, Bluevale, averaging 1324 lbs. sold for an average of $97.07 with sales to $103.50. Twenty steers consigned by Howard Martin, Brussels, averaging 1307 lbs. sold for an average of $95.99 with sales to $100.00. Eighty-eight steers consigned by Beattie Bros. Farms Ltd., Stayner, averaging 1367 lbs. sold for an average of $94.23 with sales to $98.50. Twenty-six steers consigned by Bruce Bros., Belgrave, averaging 1414 lbs. sold for an average of $92.85 with sales to $97.75. Thirty­ eight steers consigned by Cunningham Farms, Lucan, averaging 1447 lbs. sold for an average of $93.66 with sales to $94.75. Thirteen steers consigned by Dale and John Taylor Farms, Creemore, averaging 1255 lbs. sold for an average of $92.25 with sales to $94.35. There were 336 heifers on offer selling from $90.00 to $95.00 with sales to $100.00. . Three heifers consigned by Paul Buttar, Londesboro, averaging 1110 lbs. sold for an average of $91.94 with sales to $97.50. Thirteen heifers consigned by Terry Dalton, Lucknow, averaging 1067 lbs. sold for an average of $96.75 with sales to $97.00. Eight heifers consigned by John Hunter, Grand Valley, averaging 1083 lbs. sold for an average of $95.71 with sales to $97.50. Seven heifers consigned by Craig Dill, Mitchell, averaging 1153 lbs. sold for an average of $92.82 with sales to $97.25. Fifteen heifers consigned by Triple K Cattle Co., Wingham, averaging 1203 lbs. sold for an average of $94.43 with sales to $96. Three heifers consigned by Irvin Scherbarth, Monkton, averaging 1227 lbs. sold for an average of $93.36 with sales to $95.50. There were 347 cows on offer selling from $49 to $58 with sales to $70.50. Three cows consigned by Bill Stapleton, Wingham averaging 1130 lbs.sold for an average of $59.36 with sales to $70.50. Three cows consigned by Frank Bullock, Ayton, averaging 1530 lbs. sold for an average of $68.30 with sales to 70.25. One cow consigned by John Freeburn, Dobbinton, weighing 690 lbs. sold for $70. There were 192 veal on offer selling from $85.00 to $111.00 to the high of $114.00. Two veal consigned by John Martin, Lucknow, averaging 590 lbs. sold for an average of $109.50 with sales to $114.00. One veal consigned by Ken Bachert, Seaforth, weighing 560 lbs. sold for $113.00. Sixteen veal consigned by Jeff Hom, Centralia, averaging 611 lbs. sold for an average of $98.05 with sales to $112.50. Lambs up to 80 lbs. sold $124 to $182 to the high of $210; 80 lbs. and over, $66 to $106. Stockers, 400 - 500 lbs. sold from $115 to $125; 500 - 600 lbs., $100 to $115; 600 - 900 lbs., $95 to $105; 900 and over, $85 to $95. Sixteen-year-old Kevin Camp- schroer won the Junior barrow show championship for the second year in a row with his Hampshire- Duroc cross pig. The Central Huron Secondary School student compet­ ed against 34 other youths for the championship. Donna Lynn Armstrong of RR 2, Auburn came home with a first place ribbon for winning the Jersey showmanship class. The 18-year- old Goderich District Collegiate Institute student was picked from 27 showers for the pnze. Another cattle shower, Debbie Rintoul, 21, of RR 1, Lucknow placed fourth in the Queen's Guineas with her Chianina Angus cross beef. She was also selected for the showmanship class but since she's won it two years in a row, she was­ n't allowed to compete again. Deb­ bie is a member of the Brussels Beef 4-H club and works at Hynd­ man Transport in Wroxeter. In the Market Hog Classic show, RR 5, Brussels woman, Kate Proc­ ter won Reserve Grand Champion in the carcass class. Kate, 23, also placed 3rd in the pair of hogs class and 8th in the triple hog class. She's in her last years at the University of Guelph and plans to return to the area and work at Bodmin Ltd.
