Atom Reps bounce back
with 3 straight wins
After dropping the first two
games of the schedule, the Blyth
Atom Rep’s have bounced back
with three straight wins.
In their opening game, Blyth
travelled to Milverton and stayed in
the game, until Milverton notched
two late goals for a 6-3 win. Blyth
scorers were Chris Carter with two
and Jeremy Van Amersfoort.
Assists went to Jamie Black, who

BY RUSTY BLADES
The Blyth Bantams played a
single contest last week as they
proved to be poor hosts by
swamping the visiting Brussels'
squad 9-1.
The story of the game was the
outstanding work of Chris Piluke
and Jeff Elliott in the Brussels
crease. Their uncanny, puck
stopping abilities kept the score
respectable until the final stage of
the third period.
Blyth's Brad Anderson, an
affiliated player called up for the
game, wasted little time in making
his presence felt as he set up Brian
Marks’ opening tally 15 seconds
after the initial face-off. The teams
traded goals in the second frame as
Brian McNichol increased Blyth's
lead, with assists to Henry Bos and
Brian Marks, before Brussels' Mike
Dauphin cut the margin to 2-1 late
in the second with an unassisted
effort.
Henry Bos gave Blyth a 3-1 lead
30 seconds into the third as he rang
a slapshot in off the post. Four
minutes later Ryan Chamney one-
timed one in from the slot after a
nifty pass from Christopher
Howson.
Although Brussels played a solid
game, they finally succumbed to
the relentless Blyth attack as the
home team pumped in five pucks in
the final five minutes of the game.
Christopher Howson and Jason
Rutledge started the red light
flashing as they assisted on Ryan
Chamney's second straight score
from the slot. Brian Marks then
assisted in alone from the comer
and stuffed home his own rebound.
Mike Salverda then set up Peter
Craig's point shot as Christopher
Howson pounced on the rebound
and buried the puck deep in the net.
The line of Brian McNichol,
Brian Marks and Chris Stewart
rounded out the scoring with two
goals in the game's final minute.
Chris Stewart assisted on Brian
Mark's shot that dribbled over the
line. Stewart and Marks then sent
Brian McNichol in on a breakaway.
McNichol recorded the hat-trick as
he completed the game scoring by
wristing the puck up into the top
shelf.
Although the final score showed
Blyth on top by a 9-1 count, the
spirited play of the Brussels team
should prove to be an inspiration in
the games ahead.

had two, Van Amersfoort and Kyle
Anderson.
In game two, Blyth met a one-
man show from Monkton and lost
5-1. Van Amersfoort scored for
Blyth with assists going to Black
and Tyler Stewart.
Blyth got on track in their third
game against Bayfield winning 5-3.
Blyth got two goals from Van
Amersfoort and singles from Black,
Anderson and Jeremy Sallows.
Assists went to Darryl Postma with
two and Drew Corneil. Dean
Wilson played a strong game
between the pipes for Blyth.
Chris Carter scored a hat-trick in
game four to give Blyth a 4-2 win
over Hensall. Jamie Black added
another goal and assists went to
Anderson, with two, Postma and
Van Amersfoort.
Blyth's next game featured a
wide open game with the Listowel
II team. Although allowing four
goals, Wilson played an excellent
game in net leading his team to a
704 win. Anderson and Van
Amersfoort each notched two goals
with singles going to Black, Carter
and Joel Arthur. Assists were
credited to Bryce Toll, Anderson,
Stewart and Postma, each with two,
and singles to Black, Sallows and
Shawn Bromley.
Blyth travels to Huron Park on
Saturday, Nov. 21 to play a tough
Stephen Twp. team and then on
Thursday, Nov. 26 are back home
to host Zurich at 7 p.m.

Blyth team moves in to get control of the puck during Saturday's game in Blyth. It was a good
tight game, but the home team was defeated 4-2.
