Soloist provides special music
at Missionary Church service
On Sunday, Nov. 15 Anne Riley
sang a very touching solo “If not
for the love of Jesus” at Auburn
Missionary Church. Anne also sang
“I'll Fly Away” with Pastor and
Mrs. Came. Anne accompanied on
her guitar.
Pastor Carne's message taken
from Hebrews 11: 1-16 was Saving
Faith. Is your name on the faith list
of Hebrews 11? Faith is founded on
a promise. There are some things
we won't be able to understand
Walkerburn Club dresses up
The Halloween masquerade of
the Walkerbum Club was held at
Betsy Verwey's home on Nov. 10
at 8 p.m. The costume winners,
Ethel Ball, Vera Penfound and Kay
Lapp, were each presented with a
gift. Betsy Verwey presented each
member with a bag of Halloween
treats. Vera Penfound opened the
meeting with the reading of John
McCrae's “In Flanders Fields”.
Ethel Ball gave a thought
provoking remembrance prayer.
It was decided to have the
Christmas meeting on Wednesday,
Dec. 2 if possible and Kay offered
her home for the meeting. Shirley
Archambault and Ruth McClinchey
will be in charge of the program
and Ethel and Vera the lunch.
There is to be a sale. Decisions will
be made at the meeting about cards
and gifts for those unable to be
present. Donations are to be
brought for the C.A.S. Programme.
The convenors took over the
meeting. Ethel read a poem “How
True” following it with three
contests involving the letter “P”.
Vera then read “Embarrassing
until we won't be able to
understand until we believe. A
person trying to find God through
his head or reasoning will not find
Him. If you are to believe, it will be
on what God says. Saving faith
founded on a promise must be
followed by obedience, said Pastor
Came. A testimony of your faith is
action. Then faith is finished by
perseverance. It is more difficult to
follow God than to believe in Him
in the first place.
Moments.” These were experiences
farmers wives encountered, and
were thoroughly enjoyed. The
members gathered around the
dining room table and Vera and
Kay served pumpkin pie and ice
cream. Lively discussions took
place on matters of these times
before the members left for home.
The members are especially
grateful to Betsy for inviting them
to her home. She is recovering
from recent knee replacement
surgery and doing very well. May
she continue to improve daily.
