Judy is the daughter of Willis and Barbara Knight of Brussels. The groom’s parents are Robert and Audrey Becker of Mildmay. The double-ring ceremony was performed by Rev. Carolyn McAvoy. The organists were Joanne King of Brussels and Donelda Stiles of Toronto, cousin of the bride. The soloist was Karla King of Brussels. The scripture reading was read by Sharie Button, friend of the couple. The bride’s sister, Patty Knight of Brussels was maid-of-honour. The bridesmaids were Linda Wilson of Belmore and Paula Douglas of Belmore, both fnends of the bride and Karla and Michele Becker of Mildmay, sisters of the groom. Edmonton, Alta, minister preaches at Blyth Christian Reformed Church Bram and Frances VanderVeen were greeters at Blyth Christian Reformed Church on Sunday, Nov. 15. Barb Vanderlei and Ron Wilts served as ushers. Rev. Jakob Kits from Edmonton, Alta, served as guest pastor for the day. The reading of the Law was taken from Exodus 20. Scripture for the sermon came from Genesis 22: 1-19, and the topic title was, “The Lord tested Abraham.” In the scripture illustration the well known biblical patriarch was tested to see if he was truly committed to God. The theme of the story is very clear; the Lord was testing Abraham to see if he was a true covenant partner. Living a Christian lifestyle means that at times we will also be tested and tried. Morning Star Lodge donates The regular meeting of the Morning Star Rebekah Lodge, Brussels took place on Nov. 10 with Noble Grand Gertie Kelling- ton presiding. There was a good attendance of members. Donations were made to the Christmas Bureau of the Children's Aid of Huron County and the Kevin Becker, brother of the groom was best man. The couple now resides at RR 1, Utopia, Ontario. Abraham faced his test with strong faith in God's promises. He had total trust in, and dedication to the Lord. God places struggles and trials in our lives so we can say “God will provide!” Abraham's faith was tested in a radical manner, yet he offered up all his hopes and dreams when he was ready to give up his only son to God. “Circumstances and trials vary from those of the great patriarch, yet,” Rev. Jakob said, “if we look to the Lord as our source we will also overcome all obstacles.” Brussels Santa Claus parade. It was decided to hold the Lodge Christmas party on Dec. 17 at 6:30 p.m. Euchre parties will be held in the Lodge rooms from November to April as advertised. The next regular meeting will be held on Nov. 24. By Pastor Tom Warner A lot of people do not seem to like this white stuff that comes every year about this time. No matter how much one wishes it away it still comes. Some would like to blame the government for this. Others would say that with all our modem technology we should be able to eliminate winter all together. Sound ridiculous? Listen carefully to others around you or to yourself and you may hear just that! For me the snow is a beautiful experience of change. It brings time for peace, time for review of life, time to prepare for another year. But most outstandingly it brings a covering of brightness. As a teen, I worked for a farmer near our home. I had asked him about cleaning up a particular area, that to a city kid seemed untidy. He said to leave it alone, for it would soon be winter and you wouldn't see the mess for some time, at least not until spring and then he might consider cleaning up. I suspect he was like so many of us who get a little tired and the winter gives time for a rest. Too bad our lives don't know how to rest. We still drive as fast and more dangerously during winter. We schedule our time so tightly it is as if we feel that I won't have to face it if I'm busy enough. Why not simply take the gift of winter and enjoy it. Science and the Bible agree. These four seasons are here to stay. In ancient history there was an event that archaeology would say is true. There was a world-wide flood. Interestingly enough the dating of this flood is remarkably close to the time of an ancient gentleman named Noah. God said an important truth to Noah after the flood was over. "While the earth remains, seed time and harvest, and cold and heat, and winter and summer, and day and night shall not cease." God has given us many gifts; our spouses, our families, our very breath, and even winter. To top it all off He has given as a gift eternal life. But all too many of us try to fight that off the way we do the winter. In the same way the snow will cover a mess so does the joyful thought of eternal life cover the mess of this life. Won't you take the time this winter and begin to see that not all is that clean in this life. We have messed up at times and regret or are sorry for our deeds. We have hurt others through one form or another of abuse. The truth is that you and I need a little bit of cover here and there for we have gone against the teachings of God and argue we haven't. Why not agree with Him that we have done what we’ve done and are sorry, that we'd like to be Lena Siegers leads singing at Brussels Mennonite church Rod Steinman was worship leader at Brussels Mennonite Fellowship on Sunday, Nov. 15 and Lena Siegers was song leader. He will do that and more. He also will then give eternal life. The main difference is this. In this world the snow soon melts and we discover the mess again. But, with God's forgiveness, we become whiter than snow. Not only are we covered, but we are made clean. I hope the best for you this winter. Enjoy it, don't fight it. Let it be a gift to you. And let it remind you that God is able to give you a fresh cover and a new start in this life. And be careful; you are valuable to someone and valuable to God also. i BLYTH CHRISTIAN A REFORMED CHURCH HIGHWAY 4, BLYTH GUEST PREACHER: Sunday at 10:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. The Church of the "Back to God Hour" and "Faith 20" Back to God Hour 10:30 a.m. CKNX Sunday Faith 20 5:00 a.m. Weekdays, Global T.V.
