She is a sister for Andria. The sympathy of the community Phone 523-4360 is extended to Janet Hunking and family on the passing of their husband and father Joe. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Adams from Grand Bend visited with old friends at Londesboro. UCW make shut-in gifts Hanging up Helen Lee (left) and Helen Lawson (right), both of Londesboro spent Saturday morning hanging up quilts at Londesboro United Church. The quilts decorated the church in celebration of the church’s home-coming weekend. All the quilts are autograph quilts and the one in the foreground is the newest. It will be auctioned off at a later date with proceeds going towards church improvements. WI to bring articles for Christmas gifts The November meeting of the Londesboro W.I. was held at the hall on Wednesday evening, Nov. 11. The meeting opened with the singing of “The Opening Ode” and “O Canada”. Members repeated in unison the Mary Stewart Collect. Helen Lawson read the minutes of the October meeting. Roll call was “name a friend or relative who was in the services”. President Lois Elliott read a poem, “My Canada.” Thank you’s were read from the poppy fund for donations. Blood donor clinic will be held on Thursday, Nov. 26 at Clinton high school. It was moved by June and seconded by Reta to bring two articles for the Christmas Bureau to the Dec. 9 Christmas meeting. Lois Elliott gave a report on the London-area convention held Oct. 14 at Ailsa Craig. Renee Snell spoke on international affairs. She spoke on the Royal Canadian Legion. There will be a pot luck dinner at noon for the Dec. 9 Christmas meeting. A gift was presented to Marjorie Anderson for her 40th wedding anniversary. Collection and Pennies for Friendship were taken up. Grace and The Queen were sung. Lunch was served by Betty Hulley, Elizabeth Lawson and June Fothergill. The financial report was given by Helen Lawson. United Church has homecoming Greeters at Londesboro United Church on Sunday, Nov. 15 were Harriet and Bruce Shillinglaw. Ushers were Billy Jim Scott and Kevin Shillinglaw. Flowers were placed in memory of Joe Hunking. This was Anniversary Sunday. Guest soloist was Kara Stucky of Wingham. The choir sang “Peace Like a River’’. Guest speaker was Mrs. Bev Robinson of Brucefield. Her sermon topic was “Who Me?” Bible Study will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 17 at the home of Ethel Ball. Confirmation Class will meet Thursday, Nov. 19, 7:30 p.m. at Paul's place. Rev. Douglas Menzies of London and Marie Menzies Banks attended church Homecoming Day. Many Auburn congregation and former Londesboro members visited Londesboro Church. Cheerio club news The November meeting of the Cheerio Club was held on Thursday, Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. at the home of Vietta Hoggart. The meeting opened with a reading by Vietta Hoggart, “Blame it on Bossy”. The minutes of the September meeting were read. Roll call was taken. The financial report was given. Clara Riley read a poem on income tax. Draw money and collection were taken up. The draw was donated by Vietta Hoggart and won by Ora Bruce. Group IV will have the December meeting on Dec. 16 at the Hillcrest Restaurant. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lee and Mr. and Mrs. Dave Lee attended a 50th anniversary for Mr. and Mrs. Bill Wall in Kincardine on Saturday night. The November meeting of Londesboro U.C.W. was held at the church on Monday evening, Nov. 9 at 8 p.m. The meeting opened with The Purpose. Helen Lawson read a poem “Someday You'll See”. The minutes of the September meeting were read and approved. Dorothy Tamblyn gave the financial report. This was seconded by Kittie MacGregor. Thank you's were read from Delores Howatt, Bob Thompson, Nancy and Doug Blackwell, Kay Longman and Joan and Nick Whyte and family. Helen read a letter from the Resource Center in Mitchell and a letter from the United Church. Collection and birthday pennies were taken up. Plans were made for the Anniversary lunch on Sunday. The Christmas pot luck will be on Monday, Dec. 7 at 6:30 p.m. Auburn ladies will be invited. It was moved by June and seconded by Joan that members bring an article for Friendship House to this supper. This is to be a non- perishable food item. Shut-in gifts will be given for Christmas. There will be a food 10 people play shuffleboard Shuffleboard was held on Wednesday evening, Nov. 11. There were 10 participants. Winners were high man, Lome Hunking; high lady, Edythe Beacom. basket in the church for people to donate non-perishable food. The U.C.W. Benediction was repeated in unison. Favours for Clinton Hospital and shut-ins were made. Lunch was served by Helen Lee, Joy Vodden, Yvonne Hoggart and Cheryl Trewartha. Donations were given to a medical elective, Huron Day Centre, Canadian National Institute for the Blind, Bluewater Club, Seaforth and Clinton Hospitals, Town and Country Homemakers resource center, Sunshine Foundation, Camp Menesetung and Survival Through Friendship House.
