Milverton and Stephen Twp.
Crossed
With sticks crossed, Blyth and Belgrave Industrial hockey players advance on a Blyth player
readying to shoot the puck. The Blyth team proved to be accurate shooters as they ended up
winning this game and the industrial hockey portion of the Blyth Minor Hockey and Ringette
Tournament held this weekend in Blyth Arena. Old-timer hockey and broomball was also part
of the tournament with Mildmay winning the Old-timers division and Par Line winning both the
ladies' and men's broomball divisions.

The Blyth Bantams continued
their puck prowess recently as they
iced three more games into the W
column.
They hosted Milverton on Nov. 2
and pulled away from a 2-2 first
period tie with three power play
goals on their way to a 7-2 triumph.
Once again the line of Brian
McNichoi, Chris Stewart and Brian
Marks was the offensive catalyst as
McNichoi had a pair of goals and
assists. Stewart recorded two goals
as well as picking up four helpers
while Marks notched a goal and an
assist. Ryan Chamney had the
game opening goal while Michael
de Jong, who was playing forward
for the game, picked up Blyth's
other goal and added an assist.
Blyth then hosted Stephen
Township on Nov. 9 where they
once again blew open a close game
in the second period with three
unanswered goals on their way to a
7-4 win. ‘
The line of Ryan Chamney,
Christopher Howson and Jason
Rutledge provided the offensive
spark to lead the Bantams. They
combined for 13 scoring points as
Howson counted both a pair of
goals and assists, Chamney added
two goals and three assists and
Rutledge chipped in with a single
goal but an important three assists.
Michael Salverda and Brian Marks,
completed the scoring with Brian
McNichoi, Greg Toll and Peter
Craig picking up assists.
Their winning way continued in
Monkton on Nov. 13. Although
Blyth certainly controlled the play
throughout the contests, they had a
tough time finishing their plays.
Goaltenders Michael de Jong and
Chris Lee shared their first shut-out
of the year as they stopped all 10
shots in this 5-0 whitewash.
The defence came up with a big
game to lead the attack. Henry Bos
and Jonathan Collins each scored a
goal with blueline slappers while
each also picked up an assist. Jason
Rutledge set up Peter Craig's point
blast which deflected into the net
off Christopher Howson.
Brian Marks opened the scoring
in the second period on a screen
shot while Brian McNichoi closed
out the scoring halfway through the
third. Michael Salverda, with two
and Chris Stewart counted assists
as Blyth only played well enough
to win in this 5-0 game.

What is it?
The Child Tax Benefit combines the
existing Family Allowances and tax credits
for children into a new tax free, monthly
payment. It also includes a new supplement
for low income working families.
The benefit provides more money for
children - $2.1 billion more, over five years
- and targets money to those families who
need it. In fact, most families will receive
more money than they do now.
IFfrar are the improvements?
The benefit is fairer and simpler. It is
designed with a very important goal in
mind - to ensure that the money reaches the
families who need it, as quickly as possible.
• The monthly payments are tax free.
• Because benefits are delivered each
month, parents no longer have to wait
M Government Gouvernement
of Canada du Canada
until the end of the year to claim child
tax credits.
• There is no need to make annual
applications - benefits are automatically
calculated from the tax returns you file
each year.
• Benefits can be adjusted quickly when
there is a change in your family, such
as the birth of a child.
