Margaret McLeod introduced the panel for discussion on “Education in schools”. They were Mrs. Dorothy Dilworth, Miss Luella Mitchell and Mrs. Yvonne Knight and the moderator was Margaret. Their topic was education in the schools with questions on the elementary school. Margaret read a poem on “Training”. Yvonne thought the basics, reading, writing and arithmetic, were needed. Luella said it was necessary to prepare the students for a place in society and be responsible citizens and learn to listen, write and read. Dorothy said to learn language, arts, science, math and computers was important. We have to keep up or we'll fall behind in our learning, she said. She also said the drawbacks in education are the interruptions and not enough time to accomplish your work. Luella disliked the yard duty, report cards and the discipline of the children. One of Yvonne's drawbacks is the broad curriculum. Margaret also told about where she taught school. There was a question and answer period which was very informative. Freda then thanked the ladies and presented them with a gift. FEATURE ENTERTAINMENT ■RETROSPECT1 Fri. & Sat.
