The news from ondesboro Compiled by June Fothergill Phone 523-4360 Every student’s fantasy Hullett Central Public School Grade seven student Shannon Scott experienced every student's fantasy last week. As the top magazine salesperson in the school Shannon had the privilege of hitting teacher Dave Medd in the face with a pie. After being thanked for being such a good sport, Mr. Medd cleaned up his face, while the Grade sevens cleaned up the huge sundae they earned as the school's top sellers Greg McClinchey of the 1st Blyth/Londesboro Venturer Company was among 60 young people to receive Scouting's Queen's Venturer Award from the Honourable Henry N.R. Jackman, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario on Oct. 24 Greg McClinchey receives highest scouting award Greg McClinchey of the 1st Blyth/Londesboro Venturer Company was among 60 young people to receive Scouting's Queen's Venturer Awards from the Honourable Henry N.R. Jackman, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario on Saturday, Oct. 24. Greg received Scouting's highest youth award, for achieving a high level of competence and skills, at the Sixth Provincial Queen’s Venturer Ceremony, held in the Council chamber at the Mississauga Civic Centre. A member of Scout's Canada for 11 years, Greg says the best thing about Venturing is “the opportunity to better yourself and to help others. It is the best chance possible to meet new and interesting people from all over the world, to travel and to learn. All in all, it is a golden opportunity to experience all life has to offer.” Venturers is a co-educational section of Scouts Canada and its members range in age from 14 to 17 years. There are about 2,700 Venturers in Ontario, where Scouts Canada has a total youth membership of close to 90,000. The young people receiving their Awards this year represented 40 Venturer Companies throughout the Province of Ontario.
