For the North Huron area, including Wingham, Blyth, Teeswater, Lucknow, this will mean the Wingham & District Community Living Association will be faced with decreasing service to people. While the cuts are aimed at the sheltered workshop system, the reduction in resources makes it extremely difficult to continue to develop supports aimed at assisting people to find and retain regular work in our community. Our president, Linda Taylor, has indicated that the Ministry did not consult with our association prior to making these cuts and has grossly underestimated the detrimental affect if will have on the support we were able to provide to people. Our association will be forced to cut programs to people with a developmental disability, cut transportation to people coming to Wingham for services and reduce staff.
