4H club in a stew
by Lesley Elliott
On Monday, Oct. 19 we had our
fourth 4H meeting. The meeting
started by taking attendance
followed by roll call. The question
was, “name one spice or vegetable
that could be cooked with either a
Legion
plans for
Hallowe'en
stir-fried chicken recipe or
scrambled eggs.” My answer was
pepper as a spice.
We continued by reading several
pages from the book. We then
divided into two groups. One group
made stew while the rest worked on
books. I helped make the stew
which was called chicken, almond,
apple stir-fry. It was enjoyed by
almost everyone and especially by
me.
The meeting was closed by
saying “Learn to Do by Doing”.
She is a volunteer.
Mrs. Hoy visited the class a week
later to coach us, in small groups,
how to manage very young pre
schoolers. To be better prepared, all
were asked to learn a song and a
game that youngsters aged four and
five would enjoy.
Finally all Monday, Oct. 19, the
first group of four went to the
library at 10 - 1. Heather Douma,
Susie Black, Shannon Groves and
Jeremy Clark arrived early and
stayed late.
Heather said it was interesting,
Susie said it was fun, Jeremy said it
was really good and Shannon
thought it was cool.
The next group went Monday,
Oct. 26. There are eight sessions all
together. This is one way of
learning how to help the
community in a different way.
