WURSTEN - VAN DEN ASSEM Mary-Ann Wursten and Dylan Jerome Van Den Assem were united in holy matrimony on Saturday, Sept. 19, 1992. Rev. Procee officiated at the service held in the Hamilton Free Reformed Church. Tracey Gritter of St. Catharines, sister of the bride, was matron-of- honour and Aelene Fager of Waterdown, friend of the bride, was bridesmaid. Oscar Van Den Assem of Ancaster, brother of the groom was best man and Case Wursten of Mt. Hope, brother of the bride, was usher. The bridal couple honeymooned in Florida and now reside on the ninth of Morris. Bishop confirms young people at St. John's Rebecca and Jim Siertsema Bishop Bob Townshend was in Brussels on Sunday afternoon for a service of confirmation at St. John's Anglican Church. Ten young people from Brussels and Blyth were among those being confirmed by the Bishop. The Rector, Rev. Paul Acton, who serves both churches prepared the candidates over the course of several months and presented them to the Bishop along with one person for reception into the Anglican Church. Those who were confirmed on Sunday in a church filled with friends, relatives and parishioners from Blyth and Brussels, were Michelle Nesbitt, Chris Burkholder, Lanette Todd, Lesley Stretton, Andrea Henry, Cathy Nesbit, Darryl Mayberry, Chantelle Stephenson, Jackie Caldwell and Chris Caldwell. Following the confirmation Joan McLeod of Blyth was warmly received into the Anglican Communion. During his homily, Bishop Townshend spoke of the importance of living consistent Christian lives in light of the profession of faith each candidate was making in their confirmation. Rev. Dirk Miedema, Clinton, officiated. The groom is the son of Siebolt and Annie Siertsema, RR 1, Auburn and the bride is the daughter of John and Joan Van Den Assem, RR 4, Brussels. Maid-of-honour was Nancy Siertsema, sister of the groom and bridesmaids were Yvonne Wilts, friend of the bride, Blyth and Jody Werkema, friend of the bride, Blyth. Best man was John Verburg, friend of the groom. Ushers were John Brand, friend of the groom, Clinton and Oscar Van Den Assem, brother of the bride, Ancaster.
