Brussels Livestock Report:
Veal sell from $70 to high of $101
Sales at Brussels Livestock for
the week ending OcL 9 were: fed
cattle, 1147; cows, 187; veal
calves, 115; sheep and goats, 115;
stockers, 1400; and pigs, 150.
The market at Brussels Livestock
saw all classes of cattle selling on a
good active strong trade. There
were 774 steers on offer selling
from $87 to $91 to the high of
$100.25. Thirty-seven steers
consigned by Gordon and Dale
Pallister, Dundalk averaging 1279
lbs. sold for an average of $89.01
with sales to $100.25. One steer
consigned by Scott Johnston,
Bluevale weighing 1270 lbs. sold
for $100.
Forty-seven steers consigned by
W. B. Pletch Co. Ltd., Rockwood
averaging 1307 lbs. sold for an
average of $91.53 with sales to
$97.25. Forty steers consigned by
Doug Gear, Orton, averaging 1385
lbs. sold for an average of $88.72
with sales to $94.75. Twenty-seven
steers consigned by Murray Ohm,
Monkton averaging 1338 lbs. sold
for an average of $89.38 with sales
to $94. Forty-one steers consigned
by Gerald Geisel, Elmira averaging
1358 lbs. sold for an average of
$90.69 with sales to $93.40.
Thirty-five steers consigned by
Brayford Fur Farm, Alliston
averaging 1232 lbs. sold for an
average of $88.74 with sales to
$93.35. Six steers consigned by
Doris Eadie, Wingham averaging
1318 lbs. sold for an average of
$88.54 with sales to $91.40. Ten
steers consigned by Jim Howatt,
Londesboro averaging 1264 lbs.
sold for an average of $90.93 with
sales to $92.75. Twenty-four steers
consigned by Cunningham Farms,
Lucan averaging 1338 lbs. sold for
an average of $88 with sales to
$89.50.
There were 355 heifers on offer
selling from $87 to $91 to the high
of $96.75. Ten heifers consigned
by Walter Lynn, Stayner averaging
1204 lbs. sold for an average of
$91.30 with sales to $96.75.
Fourteen heifers consigned by
Doug Simpson, Orton averaging
1096 lbs. sold for an average of
$89.48 with sales to $94.
Twelve heifers consigned by Neil

$89.83 with sales to $93. Forty-

averaging 1405 lbs. sold for an
average of $61.66 with sales to
$64.50. One cow consigned by Ray
Lewis, Wingham weighing 1510
lbs. sold for $64.
There were 1156 veal on offer
selling from $70 to $92 to the high
of $101. Three veal consigned by
Wayne Brown, Monkton averaging
530 lbs. sold for an average of
$96.32 with sales to $101. Two
veal consigned by Dewland Farms,
Atwood averaging 585 lbs. sold for
an average of $93.51 with sales to
$95. Two veal consigned by Ron
Wassink, Wroxeter averaging 555
lbs. sold for an average of $84.76
with sales to $93.
Lambs: 50 - 80 lbs., sold $59 to
$86; over 80 lbs., $55 to $61.
There were 1400 Stockers on
offer. Steers: 400 - 500 lbs., sold
$100 - $125; 500 - 600 lbs., $100 -
$115; 600 - 800 lbs., $95 - $105;
and over 800 lbs., $85 - $95.
Heifers: 400 - 500 lbs., $100 -
$115; 500 - 600 lbs., $95 - $110;
600 - 800 lbs., $90 - $100; and
over 800 lbs., $80 - $95.

Brussels Livestock was the site of a 4H Calf and Lamb
Show and Sale on Saturday, Oct. 10. Here, Kevin Rintoul
of Lucknow proudly displays his Grand Champion, which
sold to Brussels Livestock. Reserve Champion was owned
by Blair Bieman, Lucknow, and sold to Mayfair Restaurant.
Carla Arnold,of Kincardine sold the Grand Champion ewe
to Thompson Feed and Supply, while Jason Empke of
Elmwood sold his Reserve Champion wether to Brampton
Livestock Exchange
