Eric Campbell shows slides
of Europe at U.C.W. meeting
The September meeting of
Londesboro U.C.W. was held at the
church on Monday evening.
Helen Lawson opened the
meeting with the purpose. The
hymn “For the Beauty of the Earth”
was sung. Margaret Good and Pearl
Mason had the worship service.
Pearl led in prayer. Margaret read a
story, “Playing an organ country
style”. Hymn 142, “All the Way
My Saviour Leads Me” was sung.
Margaret's nephew Eric
Campbell of the Auburn area
showed pictures of Germany,
Switzerland, France and England.
Pearl thanked Eric and presented
him with a gift.
Helen thanked all those who
helped at the three summer
weddings. The minutes of the June
meeting were read and approved.
Dorothy Tamblyn gave the
financial report which was
seconded by Helen Lee. Thank
you's were read from Art and
Dorothy Airdrie, Pauline and Keith
Siemon and Blyth U.C.W. There
won't be an October meeting and
the November meeting will be
Monday, Nov. 9.
The Benediction was repeated in
unison and grace sung. Collection
and birthday pennies were taken
up. Lunch was served by Reta
Kelland and Betty Millar.
New executive

Bruces move to Belgrave
Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Bruce have
moved to their new home in
Belgrave. Ora's son Wayne Riley
has moved into his mother's house.

The September meeting of the
Cheerio Club was held on
Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 23 at
the home of June Fothergill. June
welcomed everyone and read a
poem. Minutes of the July meeting
were read.
Donations will be given to
Clinton Hospital and Londesboro
Church. This was moved by Clara
Riley and seconded by Edythe
Joan's father the late Fred
McClymont.
Mrs. Joanne Flynn and children,
Cougar and Candi, visited on
Sunday with her grandmother, Mrs.
Jean Scott.

card was sent to member Alidia
Westerhout.
Collection and draw money were
taken up. The draw, donated by
Geraldine Dale, was won by Vietta
Hoggart. Margaret had a contest.
The next meeting will be Group
Three at Vietta Hoggart's. Cards
were played. Lunch was served by
June and Margaret Good.

John King to speak on farm crisis
at Londesboro United Church
Greeters at Londesboro United
Church on Sunday, Sept. 27 were
Isobel Scanlon and Josephine
MacGregor. Ushers were Christie
Scott, Pam Salverda and Erin and
Angela Horbanuik. The sermon
topic was “There's no life like it”.
Next Sunday is Holy
Communion.
Confirmation class meets Oct. 1
from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. at the home
of Lillian Hallam.
A Covenanting service for Mrs.
Bev Robinson, Conference
Minister for Education and
Programming, will be on Sept. 30
at Siloam United Church, London.
On Sunday, Oct. 11 Mr. John
King will speak on the Farm Crisis.
Junior Youth Group will meet
Thursday, Oct. 1 at the home of
Florence Cartwright, then go to
Hoggart's for a game of flags.

25th wedding anniversary
Happy 25th anniversary to Larry
and Barb Ward who were feted
with a surprise party Saturday
evening in Listowel.
Happy 50th birthday to Grace
Smith who is one of the best
fundraisers for the Ethel Hall Board
project.
There were eight tables of euchre
in play Wednesday evening at the
Ethel Hall hosted by Bill Dobson.
Winners were: high lady, Bette
Hood; low lady, Margaret Lourdes;
high man, John Subject; low men,
Harold Coulter and John Heedon;
50-50 draw, Vema Tunney.
The next euchre will be held on
Oct. 5 at 8:30 p.m.

fall meeting held in Fordwich on
Tuesday, Board Direct tyarjorie
Humphries passed on the word that
the Federated Women's Institute of
Ontario is supporting the “yes”
vote in the upcoming referendum
and is asking the 18,000 plus
membership to also consider voting
“yes”, Oct. 26.
