WI use ancestral hand-me-downs for roll call at Sept, meetingB elgrave Compiled by Helen Stonehouse Phone 887-9487 The September meeting of Belgrave W.I. opened with the president, Mrs. Audrey Fenton reading a poem, “Autumn”. The roll call was answered by showing a picture or article handed down from your ancestors. The program convenor, Mrs. Norma Moore, read “We Keep Forgetting”, then introduced Debbie Virkutis from the Huron County Genealogy Society. She told how to start tracing your family history and places to get information. She urged everyone to write names and dates on the back of photos, preferably with pencil. Black and white snapshots last longer than coloured. The Huron County Rally will be Oct. 5 in Brussels United Church with Mrs. Audrey Fenton and Mrs. Gladys Van Camp as voting delegates. The Area Convention will be held in Ailsa Craig on Oct. Just my size Four-year-old Kevin Frieburger gets ready to show off his pony at the Belgrave Fair. Lack of communication between sexes topic at meeting The Afternoon Unit met in the school room of Knox United Church, Sept. 14, with an attendance of nine and Mrs. Audrey Fenton in charge. After the call to worship, the minutes of the last meeting were read and adopted as was the treasurer's report. Mrs. Janisa Coultes reported the Upper Room was paid up to June 1993. The reading from the Bible was John 1: 1-4 and 14-18 with meditation following. From the beginning of the world, God saw that his creation was good. All that came to be was alive with his life. Hear our prayer for those whose lives are troubled. Lead them in a more abundant life committed to thee and the Lord's Prayer. Mrs. Janisa Coultes had the Bible study. The command that Jesus gave us urges us as Christians to seek to do good for others. If the world was composed of people who sought to obey this rule it would be a new world. “Do unto others as you would that they should do unto you.” Mrs. Margaret Taylor had the Mission Study from the special edition of the Mandate “Men and Women in Dialogue”. When women and men talk together they don't always communicate. Mrs. Edith Vincent led quite a discussion on the subject and also on discrimination against women when communication styles are very personal.
