The Sunshine Unit of the Blyth
U.C.W. met in the church parlor for
their first meeting of the fall on
Sept. 10.
Lenora Davidson was in charge
of the devotions. Faith was the
theme chosen, opening with a
reading and prayer. “Faith of our
Fathers” was sung with Elva Gross
at the piano. Scripture was read
from Ephesians 2: verses 1-10 and
Mark I: verses 9-15. Lenora gave a
reading on Christian Faith and
Belief. Devotions were then closed
with the hymn “O Love That Will
Not Let Me Go” and prayer.
Brussels UCW meets
The September meeting of the
Brussels U.C.W. was held in the
church parlour with 16 ladies
present. Welcome was given by
President Gertie Kellington
followed by a short story.
Luella Mitchell and Jean Bridge
were in charge of the devotions.
Jean used a poem of autumn which
was followed with the hymn
“Softly, Tenderly”. Sarah
Stephenson read the scripture
which was taken from 22nd Luke.
Laura Barbour led in prayer.
Luella gave an interesting
message pointing out two words “If
Only”. “Tell Me The Old Old
Story” was sung followed by
prayer.
Mrs. Kellington chaired the
business meeting. Barb McCut
cheon read the secretary's report
and the treasurer report was read by
Joyce Jacklin.
Mrs. Stephenson gave a steward
report.
The Huron-Perth Fall Rally will
be in Belgrave Oct. 13. All ladies
are urged to attend. An invitation
was read from the Blyth United
Church for Thankoffering, Oct. 4.
The nominating committee were
asked to have their report of offices
in December.
The meeting closed with the
U.C.W. Benediction. Vote of
thanks was given by Mrs.
Stephenson to the lunch committee.
Congregation
hears soloist
The large crowd at Auburn
Missionary Church were thrilled to
hear Helen Baumbach sing “His
Name is Jesus”. The message of
this song fit well with Pastor
Came’s message, “The Anchor of
the Soul”, taken from Hebrews 6’
11-20.
Tuesday, Sept. 22 Kids Klub
starts for children from four to 12
years.
Wednesday, Sept. 23 Prayer and
Bible Study will be at 8 p.m. with
Clarke Teall leading.
A prayer meeting for the Crusade
will be at Auburn Missionary
Church on Saturday, Sept. 26.
Ruby Pattison gave the study on
“Christ in Solidarity with Women”.
She opened by asking the question,
What is Solidarity? She covered
many instances of Jesus' fellowship
with women of the bible such as
Mary, Martha and the Samaritan
woman at the well and others.
In the absence of the president
Bea Chambers, Lenora Davidson
presided over the business portion
of the meeting. Lenora opened by
reading a poem entitled
“Friendship”. Everyone repeated
the U.C.W. purpose. Secretary,
Feme McDowell read the minutes
and 12 members answered the roll
cal using either the word “believe”
or “hear”. Treasurer's report was
given by Marg East. Lenora
Davidson gave the correspondence.
There was no card report in the
absence of Gene Snell.
The Fall Rally will be held in
Dungannon on Oct. 6 starting at
9 a.m.
Thankoffering is at the Blyth
Church, Oct. 8 at 8 p.m. Guest
speaker is Alma Langford on the
topic “Aging With Grace”.
The meeting closed by repeating
the U.C.W. benediction. Lunch was
served by Myrtle Vodden, Hannie
Meier and Mary Walden.

"Discovery Days" is the name for the
special crusade with emphasis on
renewal and evangelism. The program will
begin each evening at 7:30p.m. Rev. Gavin
Williams from Australia will be the speaker.
Gavin has a wide diversity of ministry experience
and he comes to us with almost a decade of acquired
expertise. He is the director for "Campaigners For
Christ" in New South Whales. This is an
interdenominational movement that began over 55
years ago. Equipping and motivating people to reach
their fullest potential is their goal.
