Next week declared
‘Waste Reduction Week’
The Councils of the Township of
Grey and McKillop, along with a
number of other municipalities
across the province have officially
declared the week of Sept. 27 to
Oct. 4 as “Waste Reduction Week”.
The recycling program at the
Walton Landfill Site has completed
its fourth year of operations with an
additional 54.97 tons of newsprint,
glass bottles/jars and metal cans
being diverted from the site. This
brings the total amount of
household waste being recycled
over the past four years to 203.4
tons.
In addition, the Walton Landfill
Committee has made available to
the residents of Grey and McKillop
townships, home composters at a
price of $20 each. The composters
were first available this past spring
and have been well received.
Composting can reduce household
waste by up to 30 per cent and the
composters are an important
component of the Committee's
waste reduction program.

This week the club made
eggimals and made hard and soft

4H motto “Learn To Do By
Doing”.
At the Sept. 19 meeting Shawn
Engel washed the chicken. Then we
put the chicken in the oven and put
the thermometer in the thigh.
We talked about food processing,
cleanliness, storage and thawing.
Then we learned how to make
chicken stock and played the say
game.
The Institute had sponsored Toni
McClure for the Brussels Fair
Queen. It is hoped to have her
speak at the next Institute meeting

He's one happy retiree
Roy Williamson and his wife Kathleen of Walton had a
great time at Mr. Williamson's retirement party Friday night
in the Brussels Legion. Mr. Williamson retired Sept. 1 after
21 years of service in Grey Township—11 as road
