Thresher Assoc, hosts 31st Reunion
For the 31st year in a row, thousands of
people will be flocking to the village of
Bly th for the annual Huron County Pioneer
Thresher Reunion on September 11, 12, 13.
The gates open at 8 a.m. on the first day
giving everyone the opportunity to have
their displays operating for the school field
tours which commence at 9. There will be a
fun tractor pull at 10 followed by threshing
demonstrations.
The main stage will come alive in the
afternoon with local entertainment, while at
4:30 the parade reviews take place on second
stage. As well spectators can look forward to
more tractor pulling and threshing
demonstrations.
Then foot-stompin' fun begins in the
auditorium at 7 p.m. with the popular
Jamboree.
The first event on Saturday and Sunday is
for the hungry - Blyth volunteer firefighters
are heating up the grills for a terrific country
breakfast.
Brussels Pipe Band will be taking part in
the opening ceremony at 1 p.m. on Saturday,
and again at 3 and 4:30. The tractor pulls are
from 1-3 with the adult events and fiddle
competition beginning al 1:30. The
children's events commence at 2 p.m., while
the heritage fiddlers take their place on the
second stage.
The agenda remains the same for the
most part on Sunday except for the church
service on the main stage at 10 a.m. and the
step dance competition at 2 p.m.
Though officially the activities don't
begin until Friday, campers arrive early in
the week so events are scheduled for their
entertainment as well. There will be a
campers' jam session on Wednesday with
Lois Hodgins as M.C. There will also be
euchre that evening.
On Thursday the fiddle jam session will
begin at 8 p.m. in the steel shed with Ms
Hodgins again taking her place at the front.
President Ray Hallahan says the
Association is very proud of this year's show
and hopes that people will feel free to join in
the entertainment and competitions. "Bring
your whole family and friends and make
yourself at home," he says.
