Scout registration
Registration for Blyth Beavers,
Cubs, Scouts and Venturers will be
held on Tuesday, Sept. 15 .
Beavers is for boys aged five, six
and seven. Beaver activities include
games, handicrafts, stories, and

through co-operation and team
effort in their fun, work, play and
feelings towards others.
Cubs is for boys aged eight, nine
and 10. Boys learn to work and
play with others in groups and
develop responsibility for their own
behaviour. They participate in
small group activities, badges and
star work, games, songs,
storytelling, and acting. There is a
weekend camp at Benmiller in
May.
Scouts is for boys aged 11, 12,
13-, and 14. Scouts, in co-operation
with their leader, make decisions
regarding programs. There is
personal development through a
wide range of indoor and outdoor
activities, achievement, badges,
hiking and usually several camping
weekends.
Venturers is for boys aged 14,
15, 16 and 17. Venturers have
committee type organization,
electing officers. They share adult
responsibilities with advisors in
planning their activities.

Sept. Arthritis month
25th Wedding
Anniversary for
George and Gloria Love
September has been designated
as national arthritis awareness
month. During the course of the
month, a canvasser will call on
Brussels and area homes.
Arthritis, Canada's most preva
lent chronic disease, is an umbrella
term for more than 100 different
rheumatic conditions characterized
by inflammatory symptoms. Left
undiagnosed and untreated, the dis
ease can often lead to permanent
disability and intense recurring
pain. As yet, there is no cure.
The Arthritis Society is the only
non-profit organization in Canada
devoted solely to the funding and
promoting of arthritis research,
patient care, and public education.
On-going research leads to new
knowledge and understanding of
this complex family of diseases
related to arthritis, as well as
tremendous achievement in diagno
sis and treatment.
If any homes have been missed
in the canvass during the month,
donations and questions may be
addressed to Jean Bewley, 887-
9047, after Sept. 26.Sept. 13th from 2-4:30 p.m.
to be held at Harvey
