Letters THE EDITOR, I've read several articles regarding compulsory stable funding during the past weeks. Our company is a member of The Ontario Federation of Agriculture, albeit, with some reticence, as things now stand. Today, as never before, a higher percentage of those engaged in Agri-Business, are self thinkers with a strong business acumen. Democracy is government by the They will not sit idly by as people. It is a social condition of legislation is thrust upon them by a classlessness and equality. I'm Well done! domineering minority. In the past, it seemed that a few important individuals, many of whom were also poor operators, set the rules. The Agricultural sector has become increasingly sophisticated and acceptance of this type of overbearing process is surely passd. In todays world, absolute accountability must prevail. Should one of us tell several others what is best for all without the benefit of a vote? Surely we should be entitled to express our decision on a ballot. A democratically arrived at decision will eliminate the possibility of dividing the Agricultural community - a certainty which would prevail with no vote. asking Roger George (President of The Ontario Federation of Agriculture) and Elmer Buchanan (Ontario Minister of Agriculture), Wingham hosts 5th annual Terry Fox run A Wroxeter woman is this year's Terry's Team Member for the annu al Terry Fox run in Wingham Sept. 20. Proceeds from the run go to the fight against cancer. Anna Mae Congram, who was once stricken by the terrifying ill ness, but is now in remission, will be representing anyone who would like to participate but is unable to, or anyone who has no one to spon sor. Registration for the 10 kilometre run will be from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at th picnic shelter by the Wingham pool, says Dale Edgar of Gorrie, who along with his wife, Linda, has organized the Wingham run for the past five years. Last year there were 123 partici pants, who raised over $9,000. Mr. Edgar is pleased with the participa tion at the Wingham run, saying that in the past four years, the event has raised $31,000. "This year, we'd like people to make it a family event," says Mr. Edgar. "They can walk it, run it, bike it or roller blade. Just come and participate." Pledge sheets are available in Wingham at Zehrs, Shopper's Drug Mart, Triangle Discount, Canada Post, and Donut Delite. In Brussels they can be picked up at J. R.'s Shake Shoppe. Mr. Edgar hopes to have them available in Blyth soon as well. THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 9,1992. PAGE 17. whom I presume are both enlightened men, to practice it. We deserve this. I would like to believe that my faith in freedom and individual rights is alive and well, however I feel this faith wavering with the recent unilateral decisions being made by Queen's Park, in collusion with whomever. With no vote, G.F.O. will have new meaning ... possibly something like Gelded Farme's of Ontario, at which time all any of us will have to talk about is his operation, performed, incidentally, by his very own scalpel. GODKIN - Dianne Godkin, daugh ter of Marion and Lavem Godkin of RR 1 Walton, graduated on June 14, 1992 from University of Alberta, Edmonton with a Master of Nursing degree. Once shoved down our respective throats, just try to dethrone the self-serving, lavish new bureaucracy. The dangling carrot being used to “bring everyone into line” is the farm property tax rebate, which will be withheld in the event that one does not pay the compulsory fee. I would suggest that the same property tax rebate list now in existence could be a fair voters list, with whatever modifications necessary. Let's roll out the ballots. J.
