Ushers were Mary Walden and Laurie and Dorothy Scott. Rev. Ramirez opened the service with call to worship. The hymn “Praise to the Lord the Almighty” was followed by the responsive reading. Psalm 95 was read followed by scripture taken from V/bituaries L hurch G.C. THYNNE Karl and Jeff Vincent Luke 14: 25-33 and Ezekiel 33: 1- 11. The congregation sang “O Jesus, I Have Promised.” The choral anthem was “Softly and Tenderly Jesus is Calling.” Rev. Ramirez' sermon was “The Cost of Discipleship”. The service closed with hymn “Take Up Thy Cross,” benediction and choral response. Sunday School starts next Sunday at 9:45 sharp. The Sunshine Unit meeting is Sept. 10 and the U.C.W. executive meeting will be Sept. 17. Session meeting is Sept. 14. Flowers at the church were placed in loving memory of Judy McDonald by her mother Joanne and brothers Todd and Jamie. Mr. Jim Boak is a patient in University Hospital and Irene Ament, Mac McDonald and Edith Bowers arc in Clinton Hospital. BRUSSELS UNITED CHURCH Rev. Cameron McMillan Church Office 887-6259 Manse 887-9313 11:00 a.m. 9:30 a.m. Couple sees Niagara MARTENE-VINCENT Londesboro United Church was the setting for the Aug. 1, 1992 wedding uniting Kari Lee Martene, daughter of Gerald and June Martene of Seaforth, and Jeff Wayne Vincent, son of Doug Vin­ cent of Londesboro and Joyce O'Neill of Clinton. Rev. Paul Ross was the officiating clergy . The bride was attended by her maid of honour Angella Stoll, a friend from Varna. Acting as bridesmaids were Ren6e Ainscow of Monkton, Jacqui LaPorte of Zurich, both friends of the bride, Angi Harrison of Seaforth, niece of the bride, and Tammy Vincent, sis­ ter of the groom. The best man was Steve Root of Clinton, friend of the groom. Serv­ ing as ushers were Tom Kyle of London, Steve Watson of Seaforth, both friends of the groom, Rob Vincent of Clinton, cousin of the groom, and Steve Martene, brother of the bride. The flower girl was Leanne Vin­ cent of Auburn, cousin of the groom, while Andrew Kuehl, nephew of the bride, from Seaforth was the ring bearer. The reception was held in the Seaforth District Community Cen­ tre. The bridal couple spent their honeymoon in Niagara Falls, Ontario, and now reside at RR 4, Seaforth. A funeral service was held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 28, for Sam Thynne of Wingham. Capt. Roy Scott of the Wingham Salva­ tion Army conducted the complete service and committal at the McBumey Funeral Home, Wing­ ham. Final resting place is the Wingham Cemetery. Mr. Thynne passed away at his residence on Wednesday, Aug. 26, at the age of 67. Bom in Morris Township on Dec. 29, 1924, Gor­ don Clark Thynne was the son of John Thynne and Annie Little. His father is deceased and his mother resides in Brussels. Mr. Thynne was employed for several years by Joe Kerr Ltd. Sur­ viving, besides his mother, are his wife, the former Jean McLennan; their family: Heathe and Diane Thynne of Wingham and Warren and Esther Thynne, Pine River; eight grandchildren: Steven, Tracy, Chris, Terry and Tammy Thynne; Shannon, Robbie and Jamie Thynne. There is one great-grand­ daughter, Rebecca. Mr. Thynne also leaves one sis­ ter, Mrs. George (Barbara) McCutcheon of Brussels. He was predeceased by two sisters, Isabel Smith of Brussels and Della Nichol, Morris Township. Kids and crafts This class of pre-Kindergartens learned the fine art of crafting, under the direction of Carol Reinink and her "helpers", at the Blyth Christian Reform Bible School this past week.
