Winners were as follows: high lady, Dorothy Matheson; high man, Elmer Best; low lady, Hazel r z-----t—----------------\ 'V' N' The end of an era ___________ Grey township crews have begun dismantling the Ethel Library which was closed at the end of May as part of a decision to reduce Huron County Public Library expenditures. The library had been moved onto the 22 by 40 ft. lot by the Ethel Public Library Association in 1947. After tearing off all the brickwork, the township plans to move the remaining structure to the landfill site to be used as an office and storage area. Car club sends thanks A representative from the Auburn Duesenburg Antique Car Club sent a letter of thanks to the village of Auburn for the tremendous welcome they received when they came to Auburn on June 27, saying it was the best welcome they had received on their tour. Rev. speaks on parables Rev. Paul Ross conducted the service at Knox United Church and Nancy Park was organist. Rev. Ross gave the invitation to worship and prayers of approach and confession. “All People That On Earth Do Dwell” was sung. Rev. Ross told the children's story and the Lord's Prayer was repeated in unison followed by the singing of “Give Me Oil In My Lamp”. Rev. Ross's message was “Preaching on Parables No. 6 - The Parable of the Talents”. The offering was received by Larry Plaetzer and Greg Park and dedicated. “Mine eyes Have Seen the Glory” was sung. Rev. Ross pronounced the benediction. People Mrs. Lillian Leatherland, Laura May Chamney, Marie Million, June Bolger and Bill Patterson attended the 25th wedding anniversary garden party of Edgar and Sally Leatherland of Guelph. Society to hold meeting Pastor Came's message entitled “The Basics of Baptism” was based on scripture from Romans 5: 20-21; Romans 6: ;l-5 and Galations 3: 26-28. Baptism is a change of relationship. We die to sin and are made alive in Christ. Baptism depicts the lordship of Christ. Many know Christ as Saviour but not as Lord of their life. When God has control of our lives we walk under the authority of Christ. In Galations3: 26-28 there is fellowship in the family of God and no discrimination. Baptism spells completeness and is a symbol of new life in Christ. On Sunday, Sept. 6, Pastor Came will be starting a class on the History and Doctrines of the Missionary Church. Support Group Forming; Seaforth Community Psychiatric Services will be holding a 6 week evening support group beginning September 15, for persons experiencing difficulties following the breakup of a significant relationship. This group will explore the normal feelings associated with this loss as well as provide coping strategies and emotional support. For further information call 527-2711. People with physical limitations, elderly, or anyone living alone can now be assured that when an emergency occurs, specialized help can be contacted immediately through the First Call program.
