She’s outta dere!
The Women’s Slo-Pitch Tournament held in Blyth this
weekend had super weather for fans and players alike.
Here a Blyth team member slides into second base at the
same time the Clinton player snags the ball. Blyth beat
Clinton, but went on to lose to Londesboro for the "A"
championship.
Belgrave Mite Boys
finish season in third
The Belgrave Blue Mite boys
finished their softball season in
third place with seven wins and
eight losses.
At the playoff tournament in
Belgrave they met Wingham in the
first round. The team played a
strong offensive game, getting 24
hits to Wingham's four. They easily
defeated the Wingham team 27-11.
The second round brought them up
against the second place Belmore
team. Belgrave again out-hit
Belmore 8-2 which included home
runs from both Myron Hussey and
Curtis Knight. Matthew Snow
pitched the six inning game striking
out 15 batters and allowing only
three walks.
The final score was Belgrave 11,
Belmore 2.
In the third round they met up
with the first place Wroxeter team.
Belgrave was first on the
scoreboard following a single by
Myron Hussey in the second
inning. Matthew Snow got the only
other Belgrave hit in the third
inning, but with bases loaded could
not get any runners home. Kyle
Anderson's strong pitching, and
excellent fielding by the rest of the
team held the score 1-0 until the
bottom of the fourth when
Wroxeter got two runs following a
home run and a single.
Belgrave continued to leave the
bases loaded in both the fifth and
sixth innings, unable to even up the
score. In the fifth Wroxeter got two
more hits and were able to have
three more runners steal home.
Matthew Snow came in as relief
pitcher to get the final three out.
Wroxeter went on to win the “A”
Championship with Wingham
bringing home the “B”
Championship.
Coaches Peter Snow and Roe
Croskill were very happy with the
sportsmanlike conduct of their team
and the great effort given out by all
members. The team consisted of
Matthew Snow, Rick Buchanan,
Kyle Anderson, Myron Hussey,
Jim McCracken, Justin Black,
Aaron Baker, Curtis Knight, Jason
Fear, Travis Campbell, Steven
McBurney and premites Devin
Moffat, Travis Hopper and Ken
McCracken, who occasionally
played up with the team.
The team is now ready to get out
their hockey sticks as Belgrave

Brussels
Bandits
win first
The Brussels Bandits Squirt
soccer team won the North Perth
Soccer League Championship this
past weekend in Palmerston. This
capped an undefeated season as
they finished in first place with a
record of 10 wins and one tie.
In Brussels' first game, Darryl
Houston scored in the first half and
Nolan Krotz tallied in the second.
They defeated Listowel I 2-0.
Sharing the goaltending duties for
the shutout were Matthew Clarkson
and Darryl Houston.
Next up for the Bandits was
Listowel 2. Brussels scored first
and never looked back winning 4-0.
Kenny McCallum, Lee Dilworth,
Darryl Houston and Nolan Krotz
each had singles. Combining for
the shutout were Matthew
Clarkson, Scott McDonald and
Samantha Thomas.
Brussels' third game against
Drayton 2 was important as the
winner advanced to the final. Nolan
Krotz with two, Lee Dilworth,
Kenny McCallum and Darryl
Houston with one each advanced
the Bandits to the final with a 5-1
victory.
The final against Elma I turned
out to be a very entertaining game,
as it featured end to end action.
Elma opened the scoring midway
through the first half on a shot that
goalie Matthew Clarkson had no
chance on. The half ended 1-0.
Brussels began to press late in the
second half and was rewarded with
a tying goal by Lee Dilworth with
five minutes remaining in the
game. Then with just over a minute
left Darryl Houston scored the
winner as Brussels won the game
2-1.
The rest of the team was
comprised of: Jenna Krotz, Cassie
Fischer, Crystal McLellan, Josh
Nichol, Jonathan McDougall and
