Compiled by Betty McCall Phone 887-6677
A 48-year-old Wallon-area man
led police on a high speed chase
from Clinton to Goderich on Mon
day evening, Aug. 17.
A Clinton police officer had sig

wanted by Seaforth police on
charges of assault and watching
and besetting, a charge used in
cases of stalking. The victim is an
18-year-old Seaforth woman.
Two Goderich police cruisers
were involved in the pursuit, as
well as cruisers from Clinton, the
OPP and Seaforth, said Goderich
Sgt. George Lonsbary.
Besides the original charges, the
man is facing additional charges
under the Criminal Code for dan
gerous driving, by the Clinton
police, as well as failing to stop for
police. Seaforth police are also
charging him under the Trespass to
Property Act.
The man, who was released on
his own recognizance, is set to
appear in court Sept. 14.

Reeve declares pecuniary interest in
property re-zoning amendment
Reeve Marie Hicknell declared a
conflict of pecuniary interest at
McKillop council's regular meeting
on August 4, in regards to a zoning
amendment because her husband is
the owner of the property in ques
tion.
Francis Hicknell has applied for a
zoning amendment for part Lot 16,
Cone. 5, to permit a residence on
the one acre lot
Councilor Sharon McClure also
disclosed a conflict of pecuniary
interest in regards to the tile
drainage loan approvals because
her husband is an employee of
KMM Farm Drainage.
Two tile drainage loan applica
tions in the amount of $20,000 each
were accepted by council.

The placement of asphalt on the

side of Cone. 2and 3, was autho

It was brought to council's atten
tion that Tiny Township in Simcoe
County had met with the Minister
of Municipal Affairs to express
their concerns with the restructur
ing of the township's boundaries
which will result in large assess

The weekend was the first
summer-like weather people were
able to enjoy outside for a change.
A great number even took to the
beach.
The ball season is still quite
active at the Walton Park, but many
of the games have been rained out,
so will have to be made up at a
by Tiny Township’s council and
ratepayers.
Since county restructuring is
being undertaken in a number of
areas throughout Ontario and all
municipal councils have an interest
in ensuring that the process is car
ried out fairly and with proper con
sideration given to local concerns,
McKillop council will petition the
Minister of Municipal Affairs to
address the concerns of Tiny
Township. They want to ensure that
restructuring in Ontario creates
stronger, more viable municipal
units and does not simply encour
age assessment grabs by urban
municipalities.
The resolution from the Town of
Capreol, regarding the present
Criminal Justice System in Canada,
was also supported.
The Town of Capreol has peti
tioned Parliament to recognize that
crimes of violence against a person
are serious and abhorrent to soci
ety. They want to see legislative
changes amending the Criminal
Code of Canada, the Bail Reform
Act and the Parole Act to ensure
that no criminals are released with
out bail hearings presided over by
judges and that the public's safety
is ensured.
Council denied a request for a
donation to the 1993 tractor draw
sponsored by the Seaforth Agricul
