Jesus9 love, sermon topic Sylvia and Jack Nonkes greeted worshippers at Blyth Christian Reformed Church on Aug. 23. Rev. Cliff Turkslra from Mt. Hope CRC gave a warm welcome to fellow guests, before he delivered the message. The Law was read, followed by scripture passages chosen from I Cor. 3: 10-15 and Heb. 6: 4-8; which formed the basis of the sermon. The title for the morning sermon was “The Love of Jesus.” Several illustrations were implemented to correlate with the scripture texts, and to provide a parallel to situations existing today. Rev. Turkstra reflected on the marvel of demonstrating Christ's love to those around us. The service ended with singing hymn No. 445, “When Peace Like a River”. Rev. Turkstra commented on the fact that the writer of this hymn had lost all his personal belongings through fire as well as his family on a boat at sea, after which he still composed the lyrics. The evening service began at 7:30 p.m. In charge of nursery was Margaret Exel with Julie Verburg. Several meetings for Vacation Bible School will take place this week.
