Schneider returns from Cadet
camp in Cold Lake, Alberta
Michael Schneider has returned
home from the Cold Lake
Cadet camp at Alberta,
successfully completed his
week Senior Leaders Course.

Quartet
On Sunday, Aug. 16, Auburn
Missionary Church was thrilled
with the singing of a quartette
consisting of Doran Rolston, her
daughter Lynda Curl, and
granddaughters Debbie and Angie
Curl. The song “Feeling at Home”
was a delight. A beautiful offertory
number was played on the piano,
organ, two saxophones and bass
guitar.

W.M.S. holds Aug.meeting
The August meeting of the
Presbyterian W.M.S. was held at
the home of Frances Clark. The
president Martha Daer presided and
opened the meeting with a poem.

Family holds 34th reunion
The 34th annual McCall Reunion
was held on Sunday, Aug. 16 at the
Walton Community Hall with
approximately 50 in attendance.
The crowd was down somewhat,
possibly due to the rainy, dull day,
but everyone present seemed to
enjoy themselves.
The smorgasbord meal was
enjoyed shortly after 12:30 p.m.
Doreen McCall welcomed
everyone having each family
introduce their members. Debbie
Blake read the secretary's report
from last year, The new officers for
next year are: president, Doreen
McCall; vice-president, Frank
Burke; secretary-treasurer, Debbie
Blake; sports, Amanda and
Michelle Blake and preparations
for lunch, Joan Perrie and Bev
Stevenson.
The sports which were held
upstairs in the hall due to the wet
weather, were conducted by
Doreen McCall and Sheny McCall
during the afternoon. Prizes were
given out for: guess what is in cans,
first, Karen Burke; second, Lois
McCall; third, Carali McCall;
hockey ring, Marcy McCall;

Warren Brown, formerly of
Hamilton, and son Aaron, now of
Ingleside, spent a few days the first
of the week visiting with Allan and
Betty McCall, Bev Stevenson, Ron
and Chris.

their house was not ready when
they arrived, they had to live in a
mud hut for four months. They
sang several songs in the native
language and Cheryl demonstrated
how they carry the babies on their
back and all other parcels on their

Bob's devotion was entitled,
“Excuses from Exodus”. Moses
charge of Carol Daer. The scripture
reading was taken from 1st
Corinthians chapter 13 which was
read alternately. The meditation
was on Faith followed by the
Lord's Prayer. The study was given
by Lillian Letherland entitled “The
clothes pin game, for the men, Paul
Blake; for the ladies, Amanda
Blake.
At the supper meal, prizes were
given out for closest birthday, won
by Joan Perrie; closest anniversary
date, won by David and Vivian
McCall from Saskatchewan and
children’s closest birthday won by
Lindsay Bauer.
Toastmasters of Brussels area go
camping at Family Paradise
A camping weekend at beautiful
Family Paradise at Walton was the
highlight for the Toastmasters of
Brussels area. Along with their
friends, families and guests from
the Town Criers Toastmasters Club
of Elmira they enjoyed a campfire,
storytelling and wiener roast.
Best tall tale was won by Frank
Procter, CTM. A sing-song,
accompanied by Allan Cardiff on
his guitar, was enjoyed by all.

Squirts win tournament
The Auburn Squirt girls softball
team reigned victorious at the Inter
Township softball league
tournament held in Blyth Aug. 14
and 15. Friday night the girls
played a heart-stopping game

swimming lessons, will leave
Auburn Community Hall at 1 p.m.
on Monday, Aug. 24 to Sept. 4.

are our excuses for not doing the
Lord's work? If the Lord calls you;
do it. If you don't, you will miss out
on the blessings. As we do the
Lord's will we draw strength from

returning this week after attending
family camp at Stayner where
Pastor Came led the singing for the
services.

Cent Birthday”. The “Simple Life”
was the title of the piece read by
Marion Haggitt.
The next meeting will be held at
Carole Daer's home.
Decoration Day
to be held
Hope Chapel cemetery board is
holding Decoration Day, Sunday,
Aug. 30 at 3 p.m. Pastor J. Came
will be in charge of the service. In
case of rain it will be held in
Londesboro Church.
Betty McCall and Bev Stevenson
were convenors for both meals.
Many of the relatives just enjoyed
visiting with those they hadn't seen
for a year or two. Several pictures
brought by families were enjoyed.
The guest book was passed around
for people to sign. Pictures were
taken to be put in the book next
year.

council meeting led by Area
Governor Lois Gingrich of the
Elmira Town Criers Toastmasters
Club.
Some members attended the
Blyth Theatre and enjoyed Yankee
Notions.
A pork chop barbecue was
excellent, as was dancing to
“Beechwood” that evening.
The fun weekend finished with a
picnic lunch on Sunday.

13. With this win the girls faced the

The girls were led to victory by
some excellent coaching by
Darlene Vincent. The girls would
like to thank their parents for
supporting them at every game this
year. Congratulations to all the
girls, who have indeed supplied the
fans with some thrilling ball this L
year, losing only two close games
all season.

job well done.

The obituary of Mr. Gerritt
Beimers printed in the Aug. 12
issue of The Citizen should have
stated that he farmed in East
Wawanosh for approximately 20
years and lived in Auburn for 24
years. We regret the error.
