THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 19,1992. 9 vie for Brussels Fair Queen crown Brussels After a shortage of contestants last year, forced the cancellation of the Brussels Queen of the Fair contest, the board of directors got busy recruit­ ing with the result that there are a total of nine young girls vying for the crown this year. The dance will be held in Brussels on September 12 at the Brussels, Morris and Grey Community Centre. 4 TONIA McCLURE Brussels Basket is pleased to have welcomed Valerie Gratto to Brussels. She has moved to Stretton Street from Bluevale and was very pleased to hear of all of the services and shopping available in Brussels. Welcome Valerie! Good luck when you're in New Liskeard HOLLY DAUPHIN Seventeen-year-old Holly Dau­ phin is the daughter of Heather and Gary Dauphin of Brussels. The F.E. Madill Secondary School student hopes to eventually pursue a career in hairdressing. Holly is sponsored by Dauphin Feed and Supply Ltd. NICOLE HAMILTON Nicole Hamilton, 17, a student at Listowel Dsitrict Secodnary School hopes to eventually pursue a career as a flight attendant. Nicole is the daughter of Deborah Hamilton of Ethel, and Doug and Janet Hamil­ ton of Atwood. She is sponsored by Brian McKnight's Upholstery. MICHELLE MACHAN Seventeen-year-old Michelle Machan is the daughter of Dale and Ruth Machan of Brussels. A Grade 13 student at F. E. Madill Sec­ ondary School she hopes to pursue a career as a teacher for mentally and physically disabled children. Michelle is sponsored by the Majestic Women's Institute of Brussels. BONNIE FINLAYSON Bonnie Finlayson, 20, is a gradu­ ate of Mohawk College's Early Childhood Development program. Bonnie, who is the daughter of Bryan and Brenda Finlayson of Walton, is sponsored by JR's Gas Bar and Take Out Ltd. LISA HUISSER Seven teen-year-old Lisa Huisser is the daughter of Barry and Mary Huisser of RR 1, Ethel. A Listowel District Secondary School student she hopes eventually to marry and live on a farm. Lisa is sponsored by John and Carol Boneschansker of North Huron Gardens. HEALY HALLAHAN Fish fry, a success BY SANDRA JOSLING The Brussels Legion fish fry on Aug. 9 was a huge success. Approximately 200 filled their plates with the delicious fish and fixings. Because the day was such a success another is being planned for the near future. The next Pub Night will be Friday, Aug. 28. A Team Games Night has been organized. If you thought the Irish Olympics were fun (or you missed them) come out to the Games Night. Results of the euchre held on Aug. 5 are as follows: high lady was Jean Little and high man was Bill Nethery. Low lady was Kay Hesselwood and low man was Gordon Nichol. Most lone hands were Helen Dobson and Laura Groves. The most zeros were Al Caddington and Carol Thornton. Results of the Monday night darts held Aug. 10 are as follows: Adam Smith and Martha Logan, first and Kitty Rutledge and Lawrence Machan, second. Tonia McClure is the daughter of Laverne and Nita McClure of RR 4, Walton. The Seaforth District High School student is sponsored by the Walton Women's Institute. In recognition of this theme and Canada's 125th Birthday the President, Leona Armstrong has donated $50 to be used for a School Special al the Brussels Fall Fair. The Special Class, a 300 word essay on "Why I'm Proud to be a Canadian" is divided into two classes - Graded 5 and 6 and Grades 7 and 8.
