On Sunday they visited with the Bob Rieck family at their cottage in Point Clark. Recent visitors with Tom and Mildred Lawlor were Florence and Allen Weber of Stratford who helped celebrate Mildred's birthday. Ontario's Minister of Industry, Trade and Technology, Ed Philip, announced plans to upgrade the runways at Huron Industrial Park, County, north of Mr. Keith McLaughlin of Wingham visited recently with Tom and Ruth Jardin. The community will be sorry to hear of the death of Mr. Gerritt Beimers of Blyth, formerly of Aubum who passed away Saturday, Aug. 8 at Strathroy. located in Huron approximately 50 kms. This was the first time that the Sommers have displayed work other than their own. Mr. Sommer first thought of the idea when he noticed local people whose work is not really well recognized. He felt it was important to bring to the public's attention that there are very talented people in the area. Some of the artists involved in the exhibition were Merle Gunby of RR 1 Dungannon, John and Jane Stryker of Auburn, and Stewart Taylor of the Nile. Mr. Sommer says he tried to keep the exhibition as local as possible. Numerous questions will arise when completing the various required forms. In order to assist Huron County farmers, two information meetings have been set up. An evening meeting has also been arranged for Wednesday, August 26 at 7:30 p.m. in the seminar room of the Clinton O.M.A.F. office. Meeting participants are to bring their package of forms and questions to the meeting. These meetings are designed to answer questions and review the required forms. New program creates jobs slated to start this month. The funding will provide for the upgrading of the runways, lighting and security fencing. Enhancement to the Huron Industrial Park airport operation will encourage aircraft to land for maintenance and/or repairs at on-site facilities. “The Government is committed to helping Ontarians secure new employment opportunities and getting back to work now,” said Philip. “jobsOntario Capital is a key part of the government's overall economic strategy.” Huron M.P.P. Paul Klopp said, “This is good news for Huron Park and the surrounding communities.
