Art exhibit
Colleen Zettel of London admires this paneled design by Jane Stryker of Auburn. The picture
was part of an exhibit at the Glass Works in Dungannon created especially to show off local
artists.
Local artists in Dungannon
Local artists recently had the
opportunity to display their work to
the public at Pnil and Pauli Som
mer's Glass Works.
This was the first time that the
Sommers have displayed work
other than their own. Mr. Sommer
first thought of the idea when he
noticed local people whose work is
not really well recognized. He felt
it was important to bring to the
public's attention that there are very
talented people in the area.
Some of the artists involved in
the exhibition were Merle Gunby
of RR 1 Dungannon, John and Jane
Stryker of Auburn, and Stewart
Taylor of the Nile.
Mr. Sommer says he tried to keep
the exhibition as local as possible.

people whose work was on display,
people could feel more comfortable
to come in since they knew the
artists.
There is no way to measure the
success of the exhibition, stated
Mr. Sommer, since the work on
display was not for sale. It was a
learning experience, he added,
because they had never set up other
people's work before.
He said he had the opportunity to
meet a lot of people from Dungan
non during the tenure of the show.
He thought a lot of the villagers
must have been curious about the
gallery for a long time and this
exhibition gave them an excuse to

Not only will this project provide
much needed jobs in this area, but
it will spur further economic
