Although worried for her son, she admits he is happy to finally be doing what he was trained to do. She has learned from talking to a few World War veterans that this is a normal reaction for soldiers. Right now her own efforts are centred on gathering English read ing material to send overseas. The program is co-ordinated by the two provincial ministries, AgCare, Crop Protection Institute and Agriculture Canada. All pesticides collected will be disposed of by a licensed waste management company. Empty pesticide containers, treated seed or other waste such as used oil and paint will not be accepted. Farmers who bring materials will be provided with information on alternate disposal methods. The following two collection days and depots would be closest to farmers in Huron County: August 12, Mitchell, Mitchell Co-op, 130 Georgina Street, Mitchell and August 13, Walkerton, Sprucedale Agromart, Brant Twp., Sideroad #25 (just north of Hwy. #4). Operating Hours are 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. To pre-register and obtain further information on collection sites, farmers are asked to call their local Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food office. Pre-registration is important to allow for proper planning and staffing at collection depots. Farmers are responsible for the safe handling and transportation of waste pesticides to depots. Information regarding this will be mailed to you when you register. HEART AND STROKE FOUNDATION OF ONTARIO The Heart Facts What is cholesterol?
