Huron MPP Paul Klopp
announced recently, on behalf of
Ontario Minister of Culture and
Communications, Karen Haslam, a
Cultural Facilities Improvement
Program (CFIP) grant of $6,441.
The grand will assist Exeter with
replacing the roof of the old town
hall, built during the late
nineteenth century of red brick with
yellow brick trim. It has been
designated under the Ontario
Heritage Act.
“Conservation and respect for
heritage properties and community
interesting local histories are
characteristic of the area,” said Mr.
Klopp. “The Town Hall plays an
important role, in Exeter's past as
well as its present and future, and I
am pleased that with this capital
support we can ensure this local
landmark is preserved.”
The grant is awarded under the
Ministry of Culture and Communi
cations' Cultural Facilities
Improvement Program to upgrade
and develop heritage resources and
facilities. The ministry's capital
funding program gives communi
ties an opportunity to restore
facilities which are of important
heritage significance.
“It is important to preserve our
history for future generations,” said
Ms. Haslam. “Conserving our
heritage sites links us with the past,
and strengthens the identity of our
communities.
“Through CFIP, various groups
