McKillop endorses resolution
McKillop Township council, dur
ing their July 7 meeting, agreed to
support Huron County's submission
for the new medium security peni
tentiary to be located within the
county.
A resolution from the Ontario
Association of Road Superinten
dents demanding consultation with
municipal councils in regards to
disentanglement was supported.
Council agreed that Ontario should
not take any action, nor should any
local MPP vote on any legislation,
until both the province and local
MPP's have consulted directly with
all municipal councils.
Council also endorsed Hullett
Twp's resolution concerning the
restructuring of CKNX Broadcast
ing Ltd.'s television station in
Wingham. It is felt that the impor
tance of the locally-established
media must be recognized, and
serious consideration be given to
the unavoidable reduction of local
coverage.
Accounts in the amount of
$309,499.16 were approved for
payment.
