The Huron Pioneer Thresher and Hobby Association entered this float as its contribution to the festivities. Blyth People Stephen and Joan Caldwell, along with Joan’s father Paul Klemke of Centralia, just returned home from a beautiful two-week vacation to the eastern and western part of Germany. They had a nice reunion with Mr. Klemke's brothers and sisters, whom he hadn't seen in 50 years. loan says though most of the time was spent visiting family, they got plenty of opportunities to tour the lovely scenic countryside. Mrs. Pauline Buie and Dorothy Poplestone of Kitchener-Waterloo were visiting local friends last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Timpany of Aylmer and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Johnson of London visited with Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Snell of Blyth. They attended the open house in honour of Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Snell's 25th wedding anniversary. Keith, Jill, Christina, and Erin Roulston attended the wedding of Jill's niece, Natasha Wiebe and Joel Trotter in Windsor on Saturday. United choir sings anthem Greeters at Blyth United Church on July 19 were Dorothy and Laurie Scott. Ushers were Marlene and Vaughn Toll and Herb Shannon. Rev. Ramirez opened the service with call to worship which was followed by the hymn “O Son of God Incarnate”. Responsive reading was Psalm 25: 1-14, while Former Blyth resident retires as principal A former Blyth resident, John Siertsema, age 55, retired as princi­ pal of Stephen Central Public School this year after 34 years of teaching. Born in Holland and raised in Blyth, Mr. Siertsema began his career in 1958 as a teacher in a one room schoolhouse, SS 4 Goderich Township. In 1960 he became prin­ cipal of Holmesville Public School for 12 years before moving onto a vice principal's position at Exeter Public School in 1972-73. Mr. Siertsema spent the next 11 years as principal of McCurdy School in Huron Park and then four years at Huron Centennial Public School near Brucefield before land­ ing a job at Stephen. He and his wife Kathleen have lived in Bayfield since 1963 where they raised four children. He is unsure of what he will do during his retirement, but he does have a few dreams. He would like to work with the Lions and Lionesses as well as do some travelling and rais­ ing birds. the scripture lesson was taken from Luke 12: 13-34. The congregation sang the hymn “Will Your Anchor Hold?” Conversation with children was “Anchor” and a shelter in time of sorrow. The choral anthem, “It Is No Secret What God Can Do” was beautifully sung with Phyllis Boak at the piano. Rev. Ramirez' sermon was “Our Relationship With God Our Greater Concern”. The service closed with hymn “In Full and Glad Surrender”. Rev. Ramirez pronounced the bene­ diction and choral response. THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, JULY 22,1992. PAGE 3. Pharmacy coming to Blyth in October The village of Blyth will be get­ ting a new business in October when the Blyth Apothecary moves in to the building now home to The Saga. Pharmacist Dan Taylor and his . wife Donna, have recently moved from Kitchener to the Londesboro area. Mr. Taylor worked for many years at K-W Hospital then al Shopper's Drug Mart in Wingham and at Elmer Umbach's in Luc­ know. The Taylors get possession of the building the first of September and will be opened for service by Octo­ ber 5. It will be a full-service drug store with prescriptions, personal consultations, delivery and a com­ plete line of health care products available. A questionnaire will be placed in The Citizen later this month for res­ idents of the area to fill in so the Taylors can best ascertain the needs of the community. Wingham OPP were called to investigate a rather peculiar theft in Blyth recently. Harvey Gamiss dis­ covered that the corner of his license plate, where the validation sticker is had been cut off. The incident occurred sometime between June 20 and July 16, when the 1987 Pontiac was parked in a Queen St. parking lot. A spokesperson from the depart­ ment said at first they were unsure how to handle this unusual crime, but it is being treated as theft. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police in Wingham.
