Brussels council briefs Council ok’s Nevada license A delegation from the Canadian Mental Health was present at the July 6 meeting of Brussels council to request a license for the sale of Nevada tickets, from Ron Clark­ son's Brussels Variety. Council passed a motion approv­ ing the license request.»♦* A public meeting was held prior to council's regular meeting to con­ sider a rezoning for Ken Lazenby in the former Tom Gamiss building on Tumberry St. The change would allow for automotive sale and restoration. A blood donor clinic has been arranged by the St. John's Brussels The lucky winner of the Women's Institute Maple Leaf Quilt was Joan Beuermann of Brussels. Thanks to all those who supported our project. St. John is sponsoring a Red Cross Blood Donor Clinic at the Community Centre on July 29. Brussels Optimists that Mr. Lazenby was planning a showroom at the front of the build­ ing for antique cars with the rear part of the building being used for upholstery and restoration work. Council passed a by-law approv­ ing the application with the condi­ tion that there be no outside storage of vehicles, no hazard caused by painting and that the construction conforms to the building code. *♦* Council decided to set a time in August to meet with Constable Rickert regarding the concerns they have over Hallowe'en vandalism. Councillor Bruce Hahn suggested Ambulance. If you are a Legion member or a friend of a member please give blood for that branch. Invite as many as possible to make this event a success. Results of this week’s euchre are as follows: high scores, Vera Thompson and Dorothy Dilworth; lows, Martha Logan and Verna Tunney; most lone hands, Kitty Rutledge and Bill Nethery and most zeros, Gord Jacklin and Doreen Rutledge. The next euchre night is Wednesday, July 22. On June 27 the Branch sent a team to the Zone C-l golf tournament held in Wingham. Representing the branch was Pete Bennett, Bob Richardson, Frank Stretton and Eric Ross. The team had an eighth place finish. Better luck next year. There will be a pub night at the branch on Friday, July 17. By-Law #9-1992 changes the zoning of Part Lots 13 and 14, Registered Plan 192, in the Village of Brussels, (see attached map) from "Core Area Commercial (C4)" to "Core Area Commercial - Special Provision (C4-4)". This rezoning will allow the use of the subject area for automotive restoration and sales in addition to the other uses permitted by the C4 zone. Outside storage of vehicles or automotive parts will not be permitted in the subject area. All other provisions of By-Law 16-1987 shall apply- Frank Procter is President of the Maitland Motivators Toastmasters Club.
