Finlayson buggy winner Ben Finlayson of Brussels was the big winner in the first Blyth Rutabaga Festival "Rutabuggy" race Sunday afternoon. "Rutabuggies" are soap-box type racers and the first contest featured six cars with eight drivers from as far away as Petrolia. There were three categories each for boys and Point in the Right Direction E3B girls, nine and under, 10-12 and 13 to 15. No girls entered the contest. Ben Finlayson won first prize in the most competitive category, the boys 10-12 grouping that featured four competitors on three cars. Murray Fell of Petrolia was second. Because two brothers sharing the same car, David and Chris Arm strong, were the only entrants inthe 13-15 age group, Ben Finlayson was elevated to the class to provide competition. He proceeded to beat both brothers in heats to win the senior category as well. In addition he won the prize for the best decorated rutabuggy in a Rutabaga Festival theme. In the boys nine and under, Anthony deBoer beat out his broth er Raymond to take first place. They were the only two entries.
