Wawanosh students see play Well, it took a little time, but representatives from Blyth Centre for the Arts and the village of Blyth officially signed the lease agreement for Memorial Hall on June 10. THORPE-HEARN’S GRADE FIVE/SIX CLASS Kindergarten The Kindergartens have been doing different crafts made of many different things. They have been working on songs and poems along with making kites. Butterflies, made out of tissue paper, are now decorating their classroom. Grade One Mrs. Brydges' grade one class was sharing with each other when we stopped in to collect the news. Matthew Cowan had two baby ducks called Fido and Dido! Paul Gamiss had brought in BIG snails and Tony Dillon had a very interesting moth to show the class. The students were busy asking questions. Grade Two Mrs. Dodds’ grade two class thought their trip to the African Lion Safari was “Awesome” despite the tiny bit of rain that fell. Their favourite parts were the monkeys, the large male lion, the souvenir store called the “Jungle Junction”, the rhinos, and the performing parrots. Paul Walker liked when Jimmy Wray got soaking wet running through the water playground. The elephant show was popular and a favourite with most of the class. Mrs. Hessels' grade two class is busy doing some fun activities. They are making Dogs. They are also making pictures of themselves in the summertime. For Author's Day, each of the grade twos made a book entitled Boss for a Week. The grade two class would like to wish Travis Hopper a very happy belated birthday (June 5). Many happy returns Travis. They saw a “Birds of Prey” demonstration along with parrot and animal shows. They thought that the tour was fascinating. Janelie Anderson liked when the monkeys jumped around. Jason Fear thought it was “a really fun day”. Myron Hussey liked the bus tour the best. The grade threes enjoyed the Author's Day we had at our school on Wednesday, June 10. Grade Four Mr. Fisher's grade four class went camping at Mr. Fisher's place on Thursday and Friday, June 11 and 12. GRADE FIVE Mr. Kerr's grade five class enjoyed their trip to the Children's Festival in Victoria Park in London, Ontario. Mrs. Sinclair's group liked making paper, while Mrs. Brenda Stein's group and Mr. Matthew Hussey's group enjoyed the pirate magic show. Mrs. Chris Beck's group enjoyed the pirate magic show. Mrs. Chris Beck's group enjoyed the massive paper mache dinosaurs but Mr. John Kerr's group argued that the performance by the Easy T's Music Production was the best. The grade fives went to see The Sound of Music at Huron Country Playhouse on Friday, June 12 and have been learning about the VanTrapp family whose life experiences inspired the musical. GRADE FIVE/SIX Sales of pop, chips and donuts have raised most of the money to cover the year-end trip to the Toronto Metro Zoo on Friday, June 17. Students hope to raise just a bit more money next week. They want to wish Matthew Hussey, a grade 12 Co-op student from F.E. Madill Secondary School, a great summer and a well deserved holiday. He has worked very hard and has helped our school work when it was needed. Everyone enjoyed the days he came to assist. Thanks a lot Matthew. Good Luck. Grade Seven Mrs. Gross' grade seven class went to see The Sound of Music at Huron Country Playhouse and played mini golf at Grand Bend while they were there. Mrs. Daer arranged for Constable John Marshall, Larry Gowing and Martin Cretier to come to speak to the class about their experiences and involvement with drugs and alcohol as a wrap-up of the Quest Program for this year. The students had many questions answered about their concerns about drugs and alcohol and would like to thank the gentlemen before giving up an afternoon. Grade Eight Mr. Bartlett's grade eight class has completed translations and reflections and are working on rotations in Geometry. In English, they are concentrating on pronoun usage and mechanics.
