W.I. to give donation to Children’s
Aid Society for summer camp
The June meeting of Londesboro
W.I. was held at the hall on
Wednesday evening, June 10.
President, Lois Elliott opened the
meeting with The Opening Ode,
Mary Stewart Collect and “O
Canada.” The ladies planted a red
maple tree at Hullett Central
School in honour of Canada's 125th
Anniversary. The tree was planted
by Mr. Ben Driscoll of the Walton
area. Roll call was taken up with
members telling when they last
planted a tree.
Helen read the minutes of the
April and May meetings which
were approved. Correspondence
was read from Ruth Shaddick,
Huron Dairy Princess Morgan
Murray, and the Children's Aid
Society.
Helen gave the financial report. It
was decided to give a donation to
the Children's Aid Society for their
summer camp in Huron County.
Lois Elliott reported on the
annual meeting of Huron West at
Dungannon. The County Rally is
on Monday, October 5 at Brussels
United Church. The Graduation
banquet is on Monday, June 22.
Two public school awards will be
given.
The July meeting will be a trip to
Stratford. Members sang “The
Maple Leaf Forever”. Collection
and Pennies for Friendship were
taken up and then the Queen and
Grace were sung.
Florence Cartwright, Brett Bauer,
and Elizabeth Lawson went on the
Huron County Bus Trip to the
SkyDome on Saturday to see the
Blue Jay Red Sox game.
Greeters at Knox United Church
on Sunday, June 14 were Ken and
Betty Hulley. Ushers were Angela
and Erin Horbanuik, Christy Scott
and Rhonda Howatt. The choir
sang an anthem.
The flowers on the Memorial
Stand were in memory of Norman
Cartwright, placed by his wife
Florence and sons John and Claude.

Two churches will
hold joint service
Bruce Whitmore led in the
worship services Sunday morning,
June 14 at the Walton-Bluevale
Charge. His message was “John
Wesley: Tribute to a Flame for
God.”
Ross and Marg Bennett greetec
worshippers at Duff’s United,
Walton, organist was Glenda
Carter. Offering was received by
Jim Mann, Neil McGavin and
Tonia McClure. Don McDonald
sang a solo accompanied at the
piano by Margery Huether.
Next Sunday the guest speaker
will be Paul Elgie.
Duff's Church, Walton and
Bluevale United Church will hold a
joint service in Walton United
Church on Sunday, July 5 at 11
a.m. Bluevale will bring the
desserts and Walton will supply the
first course. It is hoped everyone
will come out to welcome the
Banks Family to the Walton and
Bluevale charge.
