For the first time since the
Brussels Bulls junior hockey team
was formed one of its players has
been selected in the Ontario
Hockey League midget draft.
Sixteen-year-old defenceman
Quade Lightbody was chosen in the
eighth round by the Peterborough
Petes. The Port Elgin resident was
expected to be drafted before the
10 th round.
During his rookie season with the
Bulls Lightbody had 13 points in
37 games. The 6'2", 180 pound
Lightbody was chosen the team's
most improved player.
The draft was held Saturday at
Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto.
Bulls right winger Scott Vader,
who was also eligible for the draft
was not selected. However, Vader
has been approached by at least one
Heavy hitter
The look on Blyth squirt Stephanie McDonnell's face
should have been enough to warn the Auburn team
against any funny business. Blyth won with a score of 25-
19.
Tigers continue to roar
The Brussels Tigers continue to
roar with an 8 win - 1 tie record in
Huron County fastball.
Past games include a 2 - 0 win
over Blyth Decor in a game that
Bromley gets
no-hitter

On Thursday, June 4, the Blyth
Pee Wee Boys had their first game
of the season. They hosted
Londesboro at the Radford
Diamond, for a 7 p.m. game.
Blyth opened the season with a
win in their favour.
Pitcher, Chris Bromley played a
strong game by striking 10 batters
out and earned his first no-hitter
game. Although he walked five
players, his teammates did a great
job in getting the runners out on
base. Way to go guys!
Greg Toll had an excellent night
at bat, earning one triple and two
home runs. Others who hit home
runs were Chris Stewart and Mark
Wilson. The final score of the game
was 27-0 for Blyth.
The next game is Thursday, June
11, at the Radford Diamond, where
they will face Goderich at 7 p.m.,
weather permitting. Come out and
cheer them on.
The team consists of: Greg Toll,
Kirk Krieger, Chris Bromley, Ian
Caldwell, Chris Stewart, Chad
Haggitt, Mark Wilson, Kevin
Hallahan, Craig Empey, B.J.
Collins, John Walden and Mark
Nesbitt. They are under the
coaching of Chuck Krieger and
Brian Walden.

scored; a 7 - 4 decision over the
Bayfield Thunder in which the
Tigers lost a four run lead only to
rebound their next at bat to score
three; a 2 - 2 with Francistown in
Zurich when Todd Uhrig singled
home Gary Pipe in the Tigers last
at bat and finally a 7 - 0 win over
Blyth Soundproof, Sunday night in
Brussels where for the second time
this season a Todd Uhrig no hitter
combined with a Brian TenPas
home run to settle the issue.
Defensively the Tigers continue
to excel. In nine games they have
shut out the opposition five times.
Upcoming games include tonight
in Seaforth, Sunday night at home
against Francistown Flyers, and
Monday night again in Seaforth to
face Coops Sports.

Petes pick Bulls defenceman
OHL team about going to training
camp in the fall as a walk on.
Note: two other players from the
Western Junior ‘C’ league were
selected Saturday. Glenn Watt of
the Grand Valley Harvesters was
picked in the fourth round by the
Oshawa Generals. Watt was the
league's MVP and top scorer.
Hanover Goalie Jordan Willis was
picked by the London Knights in
the ninth round.
Blyth soccer team plays Brussels
On May 26, Blyth Pee Wee team
played host to Brussels in
Belgrave. These two teams were a
very close match, but Brussels
came out on top 4 to 1. Blyth goal
was scored by Rolf Frsehknecht,
assisted by Darryl Shannon from a
throw in. Goalie Jerry Mason
played very well.
Members of the Blyth squad are:

MOSQUITOES
On May 28 the Mosquito team
took on the Lucknow Eagles which
was played in Wingham. Blyth got
on the scoreboard first. Michael
Courtney got the goal after a long
cross pass from Michael Ansley,
also assisted by Jeff Cowan.
Lucknow got three goals, one on
a free kick. The final score was
three to one for Lucknow.
GODERICH VS. BLYTH
On June 1, the Goderich Lions
came to take on the Blyth soccer
team.
At the beginning of the game,
most of the play was in centre field.
Blyth finally broke loose as Jeff
Cowan got a goal unassisted. With
very aggressive play, Goderich tied
the game. Blyth pushed on to go
ahead with a goal from Michael
Courtney assisted by Mathew
Morrison, but Goderich came back
again to tie it at 2-2.
