S pSHT" Bulls plan fundraising events The Brussels Bulls held their 1992 annual meeting Monday night to elect a new executive and plan their fundraising strategy for the upcoming hockey season. Number one on their list is the Bulls' Slo-Pitch Tournament held in conjunction with the Brussels FunFest Weekend. High priority was also given to having a 10th anniversary “Collector's Issue” program printed to be sold at home games; as well as finalizing details for an exhibition game between the NHL Oldtimers and a Bulls “Dream Team” — past and present Bulls, to be selected by the fans. In other business Doug Shaw accepted the president's chair with Joe Kerr as his vice-president. It was a perfect day for competitors with sunny skies and comfortable temperatures. The winners of the day will compete at the Regional event in Howick on June 2 Brussels Tigers mercy Zurich Rookies The Brussels Tigers improved their record to 5 - 0 in Huron County fastball action with a 12 - 1 mercy of the Zurich Rookies Sunday night in Brussels. The Pipe Brothers, went six for seven while Pete Exel hit safely all three times in a game that was settled early as the Tigers scored seven runs in the second inning. Zurich's only run came in their last at bat breaking Dave Smith's bid for the shutout. Overall the school's track and field athletes qualified in 23 events and won the overall girl's championship and the junior girls division. Coach Nancy Stafford says this is the best ever for the Madill team. North Huron Soccer League kicking into action The North Huron Soccer League is in full swing again with a 12 game schedule for Atoms and 10 for the Mosquitoes. The Mosquitoes, ages 11-12, played host to Clinton on May 18. The game was very sluggish the first five minutes but then Blyth got their act together with three quick goals. Kelly Boven and Michael continued on page 13 as Brussels mercied the hometown Seaforth Bears 13-0. Todd Uhrig claimed his second win of the year allowing only a fourth inning walk to spoil his perfect game attempt. Monday night Doug Conley threw a two-hit shutout over the Zurich also went two for three at the plate scoring the first run and driving home the second.
