QUEBEC TRIP by Karen Bergsma and Kim Jamieson On Wednesday, May 6 the grades seven and eight left for Walton library closes Wednesday The latest library to be hit by Huron County's decision to save money is the Walton library which will close Wednesday. Walton librarian Marg Taylor said though the library hadn't been really busy, many local residents are disappointed about the closure. "There are ones around that aren't too happy," she said Monday. "A lot of them feel like it's just another part of the disintegration of the lit tle guy." In fact, upset library patrons started a petition to fight against the closure. About 100 names were on the petition which was sent to the County said Ms. Taylor. The library had been open once a week from 3-8 p.m. and gave resi dents a choice of between 450 and 500 books. Ms. Taylor believes the library has been in town for over 70 years because her mother remembers using the library when she was a young girl. It was a Walton library long before it became part of the Huron County Library system, says Ms. Taylor. Because of this, McKillop Twp. still has the right to comment on the closure. McKillop clerk, Marion McClure said the library will be on the agen da for council's next regular meet ing on June 2. Quebec. After picking up the Seaforth students it was a 12 hour drive. Upon arrival they met their interface leaders then registered at the elegant Chateau Frontenac. After supper they went just outside the walls of Old Quebec to the Bank of Montreal, where all the meetings, activities and fun were held in the morning. Students did a walking tour of Oakville, the high end of Quebec and Labosville, the lower end of Quebec. In the afternoon they went to the Plains of Abraham and re-enacted the battle of the French (Montcalm) and English (Wolfe). Hullett was the French and Seaforth was the English. They also went outside of Quebec City to see a church called St. Anne-de-Beaupre to see the history of it. Then they left and stopped at Montmorency Falls which are higher than Niagara Falls. On Friday, they met their French partners and played games and activities. The last night there was a dance with all of the schools in the interface program. Saturday they left Quebec City at 9:00 a.m., then stopped in Montreal for lunch and shopping.
