HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Citizen, 1992-05-20, Page 9WW2 Vintage aircraft on display in London Vintage aircraft from World War II will be flying in to London May 23 for a display at the London Fly­ ing Club on Crumlin Side road. The aircraft display will include Formation Flying Harvards, Chip­ munks, Canadian Bushawks, Gypsy and Tiger Moths and Fleet and Fawn Finch's Mustangs. Aircrew veterans from the Battle of Britain, Bomber command and the "D" Day invasion will be on hand as well. The display begins at 11:30 a.m. and will stay until dusk. A barbecue brunch will be held on the ground and refreshments will be available. Admission is $2 per person and $5 per family. Madill athletes advance to WOSSA Two-area track and field athletes have advanced to the Western Ontario Secondary School Associa­ tion (WOSSA) meet to be held in St. Thomas, May 19 and 20, after qualifying at Huron - Perth last week. Gary Yuill, 18, of Brussels took third and fourth in the senior boys' 800 and 400 metre respectively at the Goderich meet with times of 2 min. 9.6 secs, and 57.8 secs. Fifteen-year-old Sherry Taylor of RR5, Wingham, took first place at Huron-Perth in the Midget girls shot put with a distance of 53 cen­ timetres. Sherry also took third in the discus event. Her throw of 59 centimetres also wins her a spot at the WOSSA meet. In order to advance to the provin­ cial Regionals competitors must place in the top four at WOSSA.
