MCF auction raises $10,000 for ed. centre bituaries KATHERINE SCHWARTZEN- TRUBER Katherine (Katie) Schwartzentru- ber of Brunner, formerly of Brus­ sels, died May 4 at the Brunner Nursing Home. She was 72. She was bom in North Easthope Twp. to the late Daniel and Barbara Bender. She attended Zion Mennonite Fellowship Church at RR 3, Brus­ sels. Mrs. Schwartzentruber was the beloved wife of Edmund Schwartzentruber of Country Meadows in Brunner whom she married in 1939. She is lovingly remembered by seven children, Glenn and his wife Joyce of RR 1, Milverton; Feme Schwartzentruber and Dennis Rabideau of RR 4, Lis- towel; Grant of Victoria, B.C.; Mary Mae Schwartzentruber of Ailsa Craig; Nancy Schwartzentru­ ber and Ross Stephenson of Kitch­ ener; Barbara and her husband James Burkhart of RR 2, Baden and John and his wife Judy of RR 5, Brussels. She is also remembered by 15 grandchildren, one brother, Clayton Bender of Kitchener and one sister, Laurette and her husband Walter Colley of Kitchener. Mrs. Schwartzentruber was pre­ deceased by three brothers, Nor­ man, Elmer and Elroy and four sisters, Olive Zehr, Lucinda, Clara Stoll and Elizabeth. Visitation was held at the Mark Jutzi Funeral home in Milverton May 6. Funeral services were held at the Lakeview Conservative Men­ nonite Church in Blake and inter­ ment was at Blake Mennonite Cemetery. LESLIE CAMERON VIN­ CENT Leslie Cameron Vincent of 18 Jane St., Belgrave died on May 6, 1992 at Wingham and District Hos­ pital following a short illness. He was 75. Bom in East Wawanosh town­ ship Mr. Vincent married the for­ mer Hilda Black on June 8, 1940. He was employed as a farmer in his early life then as a truck and bus driver from 1948-1983. He and his wife moved to Belgrave following his retirement. Mr. Vincent was a member of Knox United Church, Belgrave. In addition to his wife, Mr. Vin­ cent will be missed most deeply by his children Marlene Taff of Lon­ don, Sharon Mitchell of Hanover, Wayne Vincent of Milton and Paul Vincent of Burlington. He was the dear brother of Harold Vincent, and The cause of conservation education was given a boost when about $10,000 was raised at the Maitland Conservation Foun­ dation's fund raising dinner and auction held recently in Brussels. Over 250 people attended the festive event. “We were thrilled by the enthusiastic support we received for this year's event,” said Vince Judge, Conservation Foundation Chairman. “The Foundation would like to thank everyone who attended, and the businesses and individuals who made donations to guarantee the dinner's success.” Over 150 watershed businesses and individual made contributions to the event, either as cash, or as goods and services for the auction and raffle. This is the fourth fund raising dinner held by the Conservation Foundation. The money raised will be used to support activities of the Wawanosh Nature Centre, a conservation education facility located in East Dorothy Logan. A sister, Edna MacSween, predeceased him. Rev. Peter Tucker officiated at the funeral services held at 1:30 p.m. on May 8 at McBumey Funer­ al Home, Wingham. Carrying Mr. Vincent to his final resting place at Brandon Cemetery were his nephews Murray Vincent, Grant Vincent, Barry Logan, Harvey Black, Brian Black and Keith Black. EMERSON FERGUSON Emerson Ferguson of Clifford passed away suddenly at Palmer­ ston District Hospital on Sunday, May 3, 1992. He was 77. Mr. Ferguson was the beloved husband of Eva, who predeceased him in April. He was the loving father of Ron and Diane Ferguson of Bly th and Evelyn and Stephen Pomery of Kitchener. He will be remembered with fondness by his grandchildren Stephanie, Jason, Wawanosh Township. The Maitland Valley Conservation Authority (MVCA) operates the Nature Centre. “The Conservation Foundation is pleased to be able to help the Nature Centre,” said Vince Judge. “Educating young people about the environment should be a top priority.” Over 5,000 students visit the Wawanosh Nature Centre annually from schools in Huron, Perth, Wellington and Br,uce counties. The Centre gives students the opportunity to learn about the natural environment and the need to manage soil and water resources. It is located on 400 acres of land along the Maitland River on Cone. 6-7 of East Wawanosh township. The Maitland Conservation Foundation is a charitable, non­ profit organization that raises funds for MVCA projects. In the past the Foundation has supported the purchase of wetlands, and the development of conservation areas, as well as conservation education. Kimberley and Jeffrey. A sister, Ethelda Horsburgh of Mount Forest also survives him. Mr. Ferguson was predeceased by two sisters, Agnes Ferguson and Margaret Matthews. He rested at Betts Visitation Centre, Gorrie, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday. Funeral ser­ vices were held Thursday, May 7 at 2 p.m. from Trinity Anglican Church, Fordwich. Rev. Suzanne Stewart was the officiating clergy. Carrying Mr. Ferguson to his final resting place were Andrew Allan, John Jacques, Delmar Dick- ert, Dave Dickert, Hector Brown and Allan Dewar. Flowerbcarers were Jason Pomery and Jeffrey Ferguson. Interment was at Gorrie Ceme­ tery. In remembrance donations to Trinity Anglican Church would be appreciated.
