Marie McGavin sang a solo, “It Is No Secret” accompanied by Margery Huether at the piano. Offering was received by Bill Coutts, Howard Hackwell and Chris Eckel. Children's time on how people are like sheep was taken by JoAnn McDonald. Next Sunday the speaker will be Rev. John Roberts. Carolyn McAvoy baptized Cody Alexander, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Gary McWhirter, London and Victoria Ann, infant daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Ray Nicholson of Elmira. Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gamer Nicholson on Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Thornton of Bluevale, Mr. and Mrs. Glyn Wide, Hamilton, Dr. and Mrs. Ray Nicholson and Victoria of Elmira and Mr. and Mrs. Rob Nicholson of Listowel. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Taylor and Trudy Taylor of London attended St. Andrews United Church in Ripley, Sunday, May 10 where Angela Taylor was received as a member of the church. Other family members also attended and spent the afternoon at Mr. and Mrs. Bob Taylor and family of Ripley. Call to Worship was given by Viola Kirkby. Hymn, “Come Let Us, Who in Christ Believe” was sung with Edith Wey as pianist. Scripture lesson and meditation, “Ways to Honour Your Mother”, was read by Karen Hoegy followed by prayer. Phyllis Mitchell had the topic on Christian Development and World Outreach then a video was shown on the anniversary of the celebration of the U.C.W. The theme, Call to Respond was celebrated by looking at present, past and future of the U.C.W. in addition to where they are now and what they expect in the future. Marie McGavin presided over the business. Minutes were read by Doreen Hackwell. Roll call was “craft supplies for Camp Menesetung”. Treasurer's report was given by Leona McDonald. In the business it was decided to change the U.C.W. garage and bake sale from May 16 to Saturday, May 30 at 9 a.m. Proceeds will go for church improvement. The U.C.W. will have a booth at Bolger’s sale Saturday, May 16 at 10:30 .m. Any orders for Regal are to be in to Kathleen Williamson by May 15. The supper committee is to meet on Monday to make plans for the country supper coming up in June. In the correspondence a thank you was read from Olene Dennis and a letter of thanks for Campbell Soup labels. A motion was made to order Heritage Books from 1992. The official board met recently to make final arrangements for the arrival of Rev. Randy Banks from MacGregor, Manitoba. Baptismal service is to be held at Duff's on May 31. The June U.C.W. meeting will be held June 3 at 7:30 p.m. After the Grace a tasty lunch was supplied by the committee in charge.
