The Blyth Festival is offering the perfect opportunity to reduce garbage by recycling old books. Blyth Festival's Gigantic Used Book Sale will be held on Satur­ day, May 30 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Blyth Memorial. “Now is the time for spring cleaning and we'd be happy to take your old books that you might want to give away” says organizer Rob Bundy. “We hope to accomplish two things at once-recycle old books that would otherwise stay in someone's attic or bookshelf and improve the selection of books for our patrons. All proceeds go to the Blyth Festival.” Book drops have been set up around the county to make it even easier to donate books. Please leave them at any of the following loca­ tions before May 22: Bayfield Pub­ lic Library; Beck's Variety, Belgrave; Blyth Festival Box Office; Maitland Valley Insurance and The Citizen, Brussels; Clinton News Record; Exeter Public Library; Bluewater Office Equip­ ment and Robert Evans Chev Olds, Goderich; Lucknow Sentinel; Huron Expositor, Seaforth and Wingham Stationery. ■ Special events at the Book Sale include a lunch counter featuring gourmet delights from great Huron County cooks, and a display of new and almost new books in the art gallery. These two literary figures will present the prizes in the contest at an awards ceremony at the Orangeville Public Library, 1 Mill Street at 7:30 p.m. Jointly sponsored by participat­ ing public libraries, and the south­ ern Ontario Library Service through the Ministry of Culture and Communications, the contest is The two judges join a long list of distinguished Canadian authors who have judged the contest over the years. Irving Layton, Janet Lunn, John Robert Colombo, Christopher Dewdney and Eric Wright, have all adjudicated the Contest. The participating public libraries, have provided $2,000 in prizes which will be awarded to all cate­ gories at the discretion of the judges.
