This Jessie Award-winning pro­ duction is written and directed by Vancouver actor/director/writer Morris Panych and star Tim Battle as Our Guy in this one-man tourde- Health Unit holds healthy event BY BETH WILCK HURON COUNTY HEALTH UNIT Thinking about that first long weekend? Family, friends and fun in the sun? After the long days of winter, summer inspires us to get moving. Being outside and doing whatever you enjoy is good news for your body. But, in addition to outdoor fun, summer also means food. A lot of these summer treats that we prepare for family and friends are real health hazards. High in fat and loaded with calories, we offer up foods that help clog the arteries and pack on the pounds. All this when we want our bodies to be at their best. To get you off to a good start, the Huron County Nutrition Com­ mittee and the Health Unit are Stratford Express sets sail ‘Oh Joy! Oh Rapture Unfore­ seen’, on Saturday, May 30, the Stratford Festival's 1992 Stratford Express will set sail on the rails ‘Over The Bright Blue Sea’ from Toronto to Stratford. Following a pre-boarding reception in the Great Hall of Union Station, 720 guests will board the train for Stratford, and ‘Carefully on Tip-Toe Steal­ ing’ enjoy a preview performance of Gilbert & Sullivan's nautical extravaganza, H.M.S. Pinafore, in the Avon Theatre. Upon boarding the train, guests will find themselves in an Edwar­ dian world resplendent with regen­ cy stripes and red, white and blue Union Jacks. En route to Stratford, they will enjoy a delectable meal by Avant-Gout and a not-so-silent Silent Auction with an assortment of 75 magnificent items. After docking in Stratford, the Perth County Pipe Band will escort guests to the Avon Theatre for the performance of H.M.S. Pinafore. On the return voyage to Toronto, the festivities continue with dessert and lively entertainment. Education Minister Tony Silipo stated in a press release the money will be used to support initiatives and partnerships' throughout Ontar­ io's elementary and secondary edu­ cation sector. To receive funding, proposals must be developed through employer-employee cooperation. The three main project categories eligible for funding are: •labour adjustment initiatives to make the collective bargaining pro­ cess more flexible and preserve jobs •employer-employee plans to restructure school board operations to achieve cost-savings •administrative co-operatives involving school boards and other agencies such as municipalities, hospitals and social service organi­ zations. As well, a portion of funds will be available to help cover the costs of purchasing computer hardware to help plan the sharing of school bus routes. supported by a committee of 39 members. A feature of this 55- minute production is a post-perfor­ mance discussion led by Rick Waines, a former president of Van­ couver Persons With Aids (PWA). Originally commissioned by the B.C. Ministry of Health, this multi­ media extravaganza escalates into a fast-paced exploration of choices and responsibilities facing young people today. With a special emphasis on AIDS and HTV aware­ ness, Cost of Living is a timely and dynamic must-see for anyone who is even contemplating a relation in the 1990s.
