Murray Cardiff
leads mission
to China
Murray Cardiff, M.P. for Huron-
Bruce will lead a Grain Distribu
tion and Storage Mission to China,
on behalf of the Department of
External Affairs, April 24-May 8,
1992, which will include 10 Cana
dian company representatives.
The purpose of the mission is to
explore opportunities for the supply
of equipment and services for the
recently announced World Bank
Grain Distribution Project; and to
enhance the awareness of Canadian
capability in grain storage and han
dling by meeting with key decision
makers and important end users
involved with the project in China.
The delegation will also be meet
ing with other People’s Republic of
China agencies responsible for the
development of longer term grain
storage facilities. The Canadian
companies will hold technical sem
inars in three or four locations in
China.
The World Bank Grain Distribu
tion Project comprises an invest
ment program for grain
distribution, markets, handling,
transport and storage facilities. Pro
ject preparation will require a vari
ety of consultant services to study
and design management systems of
commodity markets and food
buffer stocks, modem grain storage
technologies, and planning of logis
tics of grain and fertilizer move
ment. Given the sheer size of the
project, opportunities for the supply
of equipment and services are sig
nificant.
