Ttie news from ondesboro Compiled by June Fothergill Phone 523-4360 Happy Gang plans trip Hoofing in Hullett Students at Hullett Public School did a lively dance routine during the school's presentation of the Trials of The Big Bad Wolf last week. Farming topic at United Church Greeters at Londesboro United Church on Sunday, May 3 were Gladys and Ida Leiper. Ushers were Lyndsey Salverda, Cheryl Thomp son, Kelly Bosman and Melanie Knox. Deliveries to Goodwill planned Hulleys will deliver items for Goodwill. Please have them to the Church by Monday, May 11. This was Rural Life Sunday. The sermon topic was “The Ministry of Farming”. There will be no Bible Study this week. Worship and Music Commit tee will meet Monday, May 4 at 8 p.m. Junior Youth Group will meet Thursday, May 7. Call Paul for details. The sacrament of Baptism will be on Sunday, May 10. The Life and Work Committee is planning a Nature Walk at Hullett Wildlife area on Sunday, May 10 at 2 p.m. The April meeting of Happy Gang Seniors was held at the hall at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29. After grace, everyone enjoyed a delicious pot luck dinner. President Harry Lear opened with “O Cana da”. The minutes of the March meeting were read. They were approved by Ted Fothergill and Addie Hunking. Reta Kelland gave the financial report. This was moved by Rita and seconded by Gordon MacGregor. For the June meeting their will be a visit to Spinrite yarns in Listowel on June 17. Senior Citizens month is June, so Huronview is holding a special din ner and entertainment. This noon meal will be at 12:45 p.m. Cost is $6.00. Bowling practice is 8 p.m. tonight. Volunteers for Seniors Dance on May 20 are Hazel Watkins and Edythe Beacom. Dairy princesses to speak at W.I. meeting The May W.I. meeting will be held at the Hall on Wednesday, May 13 at 8 p.m. Special guests will be the Huron County and Ontario Dairy Princesses. It was moved by Reta to pur chase school awards for graduation class in June. Clara Riley will look after it. Harry read a poem, “Grandmother's Apron”. Pot luck dinner for May meeting is on May 27 at 2:30 p.m. There were eight tables of euchre. Winners are: ladies' high, Ora Bruce; ladies' lone hands, Hazel Watkins; ladies' low, Betty Archambault; men's high, Dora Shobbrook (playing as a man); men's lone hands, Ted Fothergill and men's low, Bob Thompson. Contributions to unconsolidated joint boards Further to note 1 (a) (2) the municipality has made contributions to the Blyth District Fire Area Board of $ 37,022 (1990: $17,239) and to the Clinton Fire Area Board of $ 11,978 (1990: $ 13,137). The municipality's share of the Blyth District Fire Area Board's accumulated net revenue at December 31,1991 is $ 6,037 (1990: $ 9,443) and of the Clinton Fire Area Board's accumulated net revenue at December 31,1991 is $ 419 (1990: $ 809). 4. Trust Funds Trust funds administered by the municipality amounting to $ 245,722 (1990: $ 233,836) have not been included In the consolidated balance sheet nor have their operations been Included in the consolidated statement of operations. 5. Pension Agreements The municipality makes contributions to the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement Fund (OMERS), which Is a multi-employee plan, on behalf of five members of Its staff. The plan is a defined benefit plan which specifies the amount of the retirement benefit to be received by the employees based on the length of service and rates of pay. The amount contributed to OMERS for 1991 was $ 7,616 (1990: $ 7,016) for current service and Is included as an expenditure on the consolidated statement of operations. 6. Municipal fund balances at the end of the year The balances on the consolidated statement of operations of municipal equity of $ 17,397 (1990: $ 11,481) at the end of the year are available to reduce the subsequent year's general taxation. 7. Reserves The total balance of reserves of $ 359,500 (1990: $ 425,839) consists of the following: Reserves set aside by council 1991 1990 for working funds 240,000 280,000 for roadways capital expenditure 50,000 50,000 for fire expenditure —6,339 for disposal site capital expenditure 13,000 13,000 for recreation capital expenditure 56.500 76.500 $359.500 $ 425.839 8. Net long-term liabilities The municipality Is contingently liable for long-term liabilities with respect to the tile drainage loans recoverable from property owners and payable to the Province of Ontario as loan instalments become due. The total amount outstanding as at December 31,1991 Is $ 380,225 (1990: $ 409,006) and is not recorded on the consolidated balance sheet.
